Pontine Stroke Symptoms

A stroke can be ischemic (insufficient blood supply often because of obstacles created by a blood clot or plaque in the artery) or hemorrhagic (insufficient blood flow due to leakage of blood to the brain). What is a stroke of Pons? According to the scientific definition, interrupted blood flow is known in the brainstem and the Pontine stroke. The human brain is divided into forebrain (the brain, the thalamus and hypothalamus), mid-brain (Tectum and tegmentum) and the back of the brain (cerebellum, pons and medulla margin). The brain stem is the back of the brain near the spinal cord, which consists of mid-brain, pons and medulla marrow. Sometimes, parts of the diencephalon also considered part of the brain stem.

The brain stem controls vital functions like breathing, pulse and blood pressure.  The interruption of blood supply to parts of the brain stem affects the functions of the parties seriously.  A summary of the symptoms and effects of stroke.

The rupture of a blood vessel, often due to hypertension, leading to bleeding from the deck or around the brain stem, resulting in a stroke (CVA).  This does not mean that all people with hypertension will Pontine stroke.  Hypertension is a major risk factor for this race.  Symptoms of this type of race is almost similar to the symptoms of other types of stroke.  To understand the symptoms and effects of a stroke Pontic, first let’s take a look at the features of the brain stem.

Brain stem functions

Middle brain controls vision, hearing, eye movements and body movements.  Nerve fibers, with other structures to control voluntary motor function.  Pons plays an important role in motor control (movement and posture) and data analysis (sensory).  The main centers that regulate our consciousness and sleep is the hump.  Medulla, a tail like structure between the pons and spinal cord, regulates breathing and heart rate.

The brain stem is involved in the transport of information from the body to the brain and brain to the body.  Some cranial nerves from the brain stem.  The brain stem, with the help of which you feel pain, you are awake.  Proper functioning of the brain stem is important for normal consciousness and conscience.  As the brain stem is the part that controls the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, damage to the brainstem can be deadly.

Pontine stroke symptoms

Pontine stroke symptoms vary from person to person, depending on the brainstem hard hit.  The severity of symptoms varies depending on the severity of the damage caused by bleeding / blockage in the brain stem.  The lack of oxygen and blood to the brain stem results in the following symptoms:

Difficulty breathing
* Fast or irregular heartbeat, palpitations
* The speech slurred speech, difficulty
* Sudden numbness or weakness of face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body
* Dizziness, spinning sensation and loss of balance
* Sudden confusion, the patient is able to understand what others say or ask
* The partial or complete paralysis of the body (if all the motor nerves in the brain stem is damaged)
* Loss of voluntary muscle control leads to unstable body movements (ataxia motor)
* Vision problems, sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes
* Dizziness leading to a sudden loss of coordination
* “Locked-in syndrome,” while recognizing the person does not respond to any stimulus
Sudden severe headaches unexplained
Difficulty swallowing (dysphagia), which can cause suffocation
Eat (by pressing on the brain stem due to swelling in the region)

Since the effects of a stroke is often severe and sometimes fatal stroke patients should be hospitalized immediately.  The recognition of stroke symptoms is very important.  People who still suffer from headaches or migraines, you should understand the difference between headache headache due to the sudden career regular and normal.

If you look at these symptoms, call the hotline number of premises (or 911) immediately.  Stroke patients require immediate medical attention.  If they get the right medications and oxygen within minutes or hours, they can recover quickly.  In this case, the effect of a low blow.  Otherwise, the patient had to cope with permanent disabilities.  Rehabilitation of stroke patients, physical therapy, regular exercise, a healthy diet (low sodium and low in fat to maintain weight and heart health), appropriate medications, anti-stress activities, etc.

Pontine stroke can lead to errors and deviations of the pupil.  It can cause changes in sensation, muscle weakness, changes in voice and coordination problems.  With swallowing, walking and speech difficulties, a person suffering from hearing loss and dizziness.  Percentage of people with stroke is less than the proportion of people who have strokes cortex.  Even Pontine Stroke is a rare disease who are at risk for stroke should be careful.
