Signals of Allergy Symptoms
Signs to help one identify possible allergies.
Not everyone experiences the sneezing and wheezing from animal dander and ragweed allergies. According to Doris Rapp, M.D. and author of bestseller Is This Your Child?, many times we miss the signs that are so obvious to use that after we realize that these are symptoms of an allergy, we are stunned. See if any of these could explain problems you or your family has ever had. If they do, take steps to find the cause.

Are You Ticklish?
It has been the experience of many physicians to note an extreme ticklishness to their patients with allergies. They also note that blue-eyed, blonde haired boys seem to fit the mold for the largest group of kids with behavior and learning problems, associated with allergies.
-
Hate To Remove Your Shoes?
Many people have a problem with stinky feet. One young patient discovered that after he was diagnosed with an allergic reaction to eating wheat products and immediately ceased ingesting anything made with wheat products, he could actually stand the smell of his feet!
-
Pimples On The Buttocks
Food-sensitive children will often have a rash of pimples on the rounded part of their buttocks that continues through their adolescence. A red ring around the rectal area also represents “scalded buttocks” that become inflamed when a food that one is sensitive to passes through the rectum.
-
Can I Have a Glass of Water?
An insatiable thirst could be due to an allergy of the ecological nature. This is one that can be easily tested by your family doctor and medication prescribed. Overactive bladders have also been blamed for certain food allergies so before you scold your child for bedwetting, investigate the cause.
-
Cold Hands And Feet?
A common complaint, mainly among females with allergies, is cold or clammy hands and feet. Although there is no scientific reason for this symptom, some doctors feel this side effect is due to histamine blood levels.
-
My Ears Are Burning
Look out when this happens. Many children (or adults) will complain that their ears are hot right before their mild manner turns into a Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde personality of an impossible nature. It could be caused by sugar, dyes, corn, molds, pollen, dust or a certain food or medicine. At least you know when this one is coming!
-
Tics and Little Noises
Sometimes, a child will develop a twitch or a tic in or around the face that appears to be uncontrollable. It does not harm them but can be rather annoying. Even more annoying are little sounds that a child or an adult will make. Ticking, chewing, clearing their throat, growling, etc. can be very embarrassing in a room full of people.
These are just a few of the symptoms that have been experienced by patients and witnessed by family members and physicians. If you feel that you could have an allergy, start with a diary and start writing down what you eat, what you do and where you go. The closer you can pinpoint the cause, the faster you can receive treatment.
