Simple Tips for Asthma
Asthma is a chronic condition, which cannot be cured completely but can be successfully managed with medicines and minimising the exposure that triggers the attack.

Asthma is an ancient Greek word meaning “short drawn breath” in which the inflammation of the airways or bronchi affects the way air enters and leaves the lungs, creating breathing problem.
The obstruction of the airways is caused by
Airway inflammation and Bronchoconstriction.
Causes
Genetic factors – This disease can be genetic too and the patient often suffers from allergic conditions such as rhinitis i.e inflammation of nose lining.
Dietary changes – When there is high intake of salt or processed food and lower intake of omega 3 fatty acids and antioxidants, it contributes to the development of asthma.
Environmental factors – It can be caused due to infections such as cold and flu, irritants such as smoke, fumes, dust, cigarette, house dust mites, medicines, mites or certain other allergic foods.
Occupational exposure – The people who are working in industries like spray painting of cars, farming, baking, woodworking and chemical production are more prone to asthma as they come in contact with various irritants such as dust and gases present there.
Lack of exercise – Many people are not in the habit of doing exercise and such people when get exposed to any irritants develops allergies leading to the blockage of airways.
Remedies
In order to stimulate the skin and relieve congested lungs, the patient should perspire through steam bath, hot hip bath, sunbath and hot footbath.
Use of honey is considered to be very beneficial in the treatment of asthma. When a patient gets asthma attack, keep a jug full of honey under the nose of a patent and within few minutes, the patient would start breathing easily.
Mixing one teaspoon of honey in a glass of water and having it 3 times in a day is also a very good home remedy for asthma.
Garlic cloves boiled in 30 gms of milk should be given daily to patient. It is a good remedy for asthma.
Steamed ginger tea with minced garlic cloves should be given twice a day.
A teaspoon of turmeric powder with a glass of milk given on an empty stomach is highly beneficial; it can be also taken 2 to 3 times in a day.
Mustard oil mixed with little camphor should be massaged at the back of the chest when there is asthma attack.
The simplest treatment is to inhale steam from boiling water mixed with caraway seeds.
Blend together radish, honey and lemon juice together in a blender and cook on low flame. Have one teaspoon of it everyday in the morning.
One of the best remedy is to take a cup of hot water and put half a teaspoon of licorice root tea in it, leave it for 10 minutes, strain and drink.
Air, sun and water are also great healing agents. The patient should be made to sit in fresh air for sometime daily and avoid dusty places, very cold places, mental worries and tension.
In 125 ml of water, add 4 to 5 cloves and boil it and then add one teaspoon of honey and have it twice or thrice in a day.
Having 1 to 2 teaspoonfuls of Spiegel seed with warm water in a day helps in minimizing asthma attack and is considered to be very effective remedy.
Soak dry grapes in a bowl of water at night and the next morning keep it in cold milk for half an hour and then chew them. This is also very effective.
Soak fresh dry grapes with seeds in 150 gms of water at night. In the morning, remove the seeds and chew them slowly one by one. To the water add little sugar and drink it. Within a month, the lungs will be strengthened and all the poisonous waste will be thrown out from the body.
Make a paste of one gram of dry ginger powder and one gram of black pepper in one teaspoon of molasses of honey. It is also one of the most effective remedy for asthma.
Take half cup of milk, add one teaspoon of pure honey, 1 teaspoon of olive oil and some garlic cloves. Boil it and have it every day.
Take 250 ml of water, add some fenugreek seeds and boil it till only one third is left. Add one teaspoonful of ginger juice and one teaspoonful of honey.
Chew fennel seeds regularly to expel infected mucous from the chest.
Add 20 gm of linseed in 300 gms of water. When one third of water is left, sieve and add 10 grams of sugar. Have one teaspoon of this water as many times in an hour. It will help in the excretion of mucous that has fried up in the chest.
If doctor has prescribed you any medication, avoid using any home remedies. If you have a sudden asthma attack and have ran out of medication, have a strong cup of black coffee till you get a doctor.

This is very useful… I have a family who have frequent attacks and have no cure for it…
I am more worried about my son who is showing symptoms of it right now and I never wanted him to go on medication, so I am going to try this with him…
