Having a good night’s sleep is essential for a healthy lifestyle.Here are some tips to make life easier.

Consider the facts, if you don’t sleep properly
- You have no energy during daytime.
- You feel like a zombie, you feel sleepy, and want to sleep during the day.
- Your concentration suffers.
- Your alert levels are lower.
Short sleep has been shown to be a risk factor for weight gain, hypertension, and Type 2 diabetes, sometimes leading to mortality(Source:Wikipedia)
Sleep deprivation has also been linked to
- obesity
- impaired immune system
- irritability
- Risk of heart disease.
Sleep better for a better life
There are some tips for a good sleep.
- First of all, have a PLAN OF ACTION, have it in writing, and monitor your progress.
Set a time that you will definitely go to bed and try to stick to it.
Avoid Caffeine or stimulating drinks before going to bed.

- Associate coffee with the day.Have your latte or cappuccino during the day, and in the evening substitute coffee for something else, like tea or milk.The idea is to condition your mind that coffee is a ‘day’ drink.
- Substitute coffee for the old fashioned warm cup of milk, like hot chocolate.You will feel good and it will set the mood for sleep.Chamomile is another great drink.I sometimes drink tea, it contains caffeine, but a lot lower than coffee, and it relaxes you as well.

Milk. A hot cup of milk with chocolate is relaxing and soothing and sets the mood to sleep.
- Do some exercise.Exercise will make you more tired and you will want to have a rest.If you find it hard to exercise you could buy exercise equipment, like a cross trainer or bycicle, which will help you to exercise.You will feel good as well.
- Avoid late Television or web surfing. This is easier said than done. To stick to your ‘time to go to bed’ target, you need a lot of discipline, and these life luxuries are hard to avoid.Try to limit the internet at first gradually but not completely, as complete withdrawal at first may backfire.
- Take natural supplements to help sleep. Valerian is highly recommended.

Any caffeine before going to sleep is definitely not a good idea. A warm cup of milk is a better substitute like you said. And yes, sleep is one of the best things in life among many others.
