Small Pox

Smallpox is a disease that can be spread, or is contagious.

Smallpox is a disease that can be spread, or is contagious.  This disease can be extremely deadly and once the symptoms of smallpox have been spotted the victim should immediately go and see the nearest doctor for treatment.  Also, the person that has the disease should be contained in a room so they do not contaminant other people.

The earliest forms of smallpox can date back to around the year 1340 B.C. when the Africans, who carried smallpox, were enslaved and taken to Asia where an epidemic started.  Millions of people died in this epidemic in places as far as the Americas and Mexico.  But the threat of smallpox deteriorated when a group of scientists in Germany found how to steer clear of the disease.  They told people to stay clean, bathe every dad and if someone you know has smallpox, put them in an isolated environment.  As the people listen in the other countries the deaths a year from this disease went down dramatically.  The first vaccine for smallpox was founded by a scientist named Edward Jenner in 1799.  He did some experiments with smallpox and the closely related cowpox to see what the outcome would be.  He found out that if a person took a small dose of cowpox that person would be immune to any form of smallpox.  He called his new cure “vaccine”, which comes from the Greek word “vaca”, which means cow.  Once Jenner did some more tests on other willing patients he distributed to the public.  By the year 1800 over 100,000 people around the world have been vaccinated.

The symptoms and side effects of smallpox are very dangerous and should be handled by only a doctor.  The symptoms start to show up at around two weeks after you have been infected with smallpox and they are the flu, fever, and fatigue.  Later on your skin starts to have severe puss-filled blisters that turn out to be deep, pitted scars all over your body.  There may be vaccines for smallpox, but once the symptoms start to appear there is nothing you can do to stop it.

In conclusion, small pox is a very contagious disease that can be spread extremely fast throughout the world.  Even though the small pox can be vaccinated, it can not be treated once you have the symptoms of it.  Like the flu, fever, fatigue, also small blisters filled with puss will start to form on your body which leaves permanent marks.  So your safest bet for not getting this deadly black plague is to get vaccinated and wash your body every chance you can to stay clean of any infection.
