Swine Flu

The 2009 Swine flu outbreak has now infected over 18 000 people across the world and claimed over 100 deaths.

As of June 1st, the flu has spread across 66 countries and is showing signs of becoming a world pandemic. The Swine flu is very much like the common flu but just more deadly. The Swine flu can find you in a state where you can barely move or even get out of bed. Some of the Swine flu symptoms are listed below.

  • Fatigue to the extreme
  • high fever
  • cough
  • sore throat
  • runny or stuffy nose
  • vomiting or diarrhea
  • chills
  • headaches

If any of these symptoms have happened to you recently or are happening to you now, check with your doctor to make sure about your health. Even though some of those symptoms may be happening to you, it doesn’t definitely mean you have Swine flu. As it is getting colder at the moment, some of these symptoms may just mean you have spring allergies, seasonal flu or cold, sinus infections or maybe a strep throat. Although If any of these symptoms happen to you, seek medical attention immediately.

  • not drinking enough fluids
  • persistent vomiting
  • flu symptoms get better and then worse than what they were before.
  • not waking up or interacting much
  • bluish or grey skin colour

Some of these symptoms may be more serious as they are symptoms of the start of Swine flu. The swine flu has yet to make a major break and infect millions but is showing signs like other flues where tens of millions died. The biggest flu in the last 100 years was in 1918 where the Spanish flu claimed over 50 million lives with a rate of 2.5% of the infected dieing. There is currently no vaccine to make you completely immune from the virus but health scientists expect one to be ready in the later months of 2009.

Thank you for reading and I hope you a happy and healthy life.
