Swine Flu: Whats It All About?

Swine Flu:What exactly is it? To help you feel knowledgeable!

Swine Flu is known all over the world; it is said to be a highly contagious flu, which can be passed from person to person by many different ways.

Schools all over the world are being closed down due to multiple cases, at Eton for instances there have been 32 suspected cases, and this was when they hosted The 4Th of June, to which girls and boys from some of the most prestigious schools in England, such as Ample Forth and St. Marys Ascot. These girls luckily were mostly on half term, so a weeks quarantine was enforced, and they were alright.

The disease originated in Mexico, where it killed 159 people. As the name suggests it was caught from pigs, and spread to humans. Many people believe that it will become an epidemic.

It has been predicted by scientists that the virus will mutate and return some time in August, where the outcome will be much worse than this current strain, with even more deaths than have been reported this time.

Swine Flu is being treated with a new drug called Tami-Flu, which is a pill, of which the concentration and dose depend on how affected by Swine Flu you are. There is a help line currently set up by the NHS where you can call and be checked over the phone by a doctor who will send you to get Tami-flu or tell you you don’t need it.

All of the people who have died from swine flu had an underlying illness, except one man in England, who became the first healthy death from the disease. We hope that he will be the only person, but now it has become more serious, and the general population are becoming increasingly worried by it.

The main symptoms of swine flu are an extremely sore throat high temperature and vomitting which could also be another type of flu, not necessarily a swine flu. The best thing to do is to go and get yourself tested if you think you have any of the symptoms.

The Quarantine for swine flu is seven days and if you have been in contact with anybody who has contracted the virus you should quarantine yourself and anyone you have been living with should stay at home with rest and fluids and get yourself to a doctor for testing as soon as you can. If you want the full details I would check out what your government is saying that you should do.

I hope that this helped and that none of the readers are unlucky enough to contract Swine Flu, and any of you who have it get better soon!!!
