The Craziest, Most Bizarre and Unbelievable Mental Disorders

These mental disorders may sound strange, bizarre and unbelievable to you. Perhaps, very few people know their existence. The worst things about these diseases are that they can put sufferers under downright weird and chronic medical conditions if treatment is not prompted. Here is a compilation of some of the incredibly awful conditions of the human brain.

Hybristophilia

Hybristophilia is a phenomenon known as “Bonnie and Clyde Syndrome”, occurring more often in females than males. According to Campbell’s Psychiatric Dictionary (8th edition), hybristophilia involves being aroused by and attracted to criminals who have committed heinous acts. Charles Manson’s groupies as well as other convict who has committed a serious violent crime are presumably as a result of this phenomenon. John Money, the sexologist, has defined hybristophilia as “a paraphilia of the marauding/predatory type in which sexuerotic arousal and facilitation and attainment of orgasm are responsive to and contingent on being with a partner known to have committed an outrage or crime, such as rape, murder, or armed robbery.”

Exploding head syndrome

Exploding head syndrome is a rarely seen medical condition in which the sufferer spontaneously hears an exceptionally and terrifying loud band similar to a gun going off, a clash of cymbals, a bomb exploding, a ringing noise, a wave crashing against rocks or any other loud-explosion-like noise originating from inside their head. This syndrome has no symptoms of sleep disorder and pain elements involved. It’s associated with extreme fatigue and stress, notably among females who age 50 and over.

Bigorexia

Bigorexia is a condition where a person tends to become obsessed with their physical appearance. Even though they’re above average in musculature, they keep on thinking that they’re “too skinny”, “underweight” or “too small”. You can read more details about this mental illness in my previous article entitled 10 shockingly terrible eating-related diseases.

Telephonicophilia

Telephonicophilia is a technical name of sexual arousal derived from phone sex (can also be sexually aroused by cyber sex). A person with this fetish or paraphilic condition gains sexual pleasure or excitement by talking foul, sexual and obscene matters over the phone to a stranger or an unknown listener. An obscene phone call from people with this mental illness can undoubtedly cause disturbance, annoyance and uncomfortable feeling to the called party.
