The Fifteen Most Common Causes of Death in the US
Where you live might have something to do with the way you will die.
In the US, the top 2 causes of death are accounted for over fifty percent of the whole annual death toll. Different countries have different common causes of death. Here are the top fifteen common causes of death in the US.
#15 (.7%) Homicide, which is the act of one killing another human being.
#14 (.7%) Parkinson’s disease: is a degenerative disorder of the central nervous system that impairs a person’s motor skill, speech, and a lot of other functions in the body.
#13 (.8%) Hypertension: Hypertension is a condition in which a person blood pressure levels are elevated. Primary hypertension exists without any other medical conditions causing it. Secondary hypertension usually has another medical condition that caused a person blood pressure to elevate such as tumors or kidney disease.
#12 (1.1%) Liver disease and cirrhosis of the liver: Chronic Liver disease is a disease that affects the liver over a long period of time that leads to the destruction of the liver, mainly caused by drinking alcohol, heredity, certain types of hepatitis, and auto immune disorders.
#11 (1.3%) Suicide: Suicide is the act of a person terminating their own life.
#10 (1.4%) Septicemia also known as Blood poisoning: This is a serious condition in which the body is fighting a blood infection all over your body. When a person suffers from sepsis it can lead to low blood pressure and shock if it is not treated right away.
#9 (1.7%) Nephritis: Nephritis is the inflammation of the kidneys. Nephritis can be cause by an infection but is mostly cause because of an autoimmune disorder that affects a lot of the major organs. When the kidneys are inflamed they release a lot of protein in the urine causing more life threatening symptoms.
#8 (2.4%) Alzheimer’s disease: Alzheimer’s is an incurable degenerative disease of the brain that causes memory loss, confusion, irritability, aggressiveness and mood swings.
#7 (2.7%) Flu or Pneumonia: The flu is a highly contagious disease that causes sore throat, pain in muscles, headache, nausea, vomiting, fever, chills, fatigue, coughing, general discomfort, and can lead to pneumonia. Pneumonia is an inflammation of the lungs to where the air filled sacs in the lungs are filled with fluid.
#6 (3.0%) Diabetes Mellitus: Diabetes Mellitus is a disorder of the metabolism process that is usually due to environmental factors and heredity factors that leads to a drastic rise in a person blood sugar levels. There are 2 types of diabetes which are called Type-One or Type-Two.
#5 (4.4%) Accidents: such as car collisions, drowning, falls, or any other unintended injury that causes death.
#4 (5.1%) Chronic Lower Respiratory Diseases: is any chronic disease that affects the lower respiratory tract including the lungs.
#3(6.7%) Cerebrovascular disease: a group of disorders that that is related to the diseases of blood vessels that supply the brain with blood and oxygen.
#2 (22.8%) Malignant tumors: This is a disease in which certain type of cells divides more rapidly and causes cancerous masses throughout certain parts of the body.
#1 (28.5%) Disease of the Heart: Refers to any type of disease to the heart. These might include heart attacks, chest pain, coronary disease, etc…
