Here I’m just sharing about the painful experiences few of my relatives and friends faced due to this appendix.

The first time I heard the word appendix was some 15 years ago, when one of my close relatives was admitted in hospital to get operated of this worm like portion saying it got infected. In a short notice he got admitted in hospital. After surgery, the doctor told us that it was a miracle and GOD saved him. Because, the appendix got busted, just when the doctors’ team cut open the stomach to remove it. In our place, even now, laser surgery is not that popular.

The second time was a tragic, as I lost my friend because of appendix. During my B.Sc. I had a friend who stayed in college hostel. She got stomach pain continuously for a week. As she was not so aware of this appendix and symptoms, she just took self medication. But then since there was no improvement, she went to her home during weekend. She didn’t come to college the next week. After few days, her father came to collect her belongings with broken heart and tears. He said that his daughter fainted on the way to hospital for a check up on her stomach ache. When they rushed her to hospital, the doctor declared she was dead as the appendix got busted already and mixed with blood.

The third experience happened just few weeks before and the person suffered was my mother-in-law. She got pain for a week. Since she had problems in her liver functions few years before and got surgery done, we just associated her pain with those problems. Even doctor gave medicines related to that. But then since there was no improvement for two days, we did all emergency check up and scans which revealed the presence of appendix. By laser method, it got operated immediately. Thank GOD, she is safe and sound now.

So friends, when you get stomach ache for more than two days without any improvements by the medicines you take, make an immediate check up for appendix.
