To Prevent Cold Sores: Foods High in Lysine, Low in Arginine

To prevent cold sores it is important not only to eat foods with lysine, but also with low arginine content.

Although margarine is known as a great food to prevent cold sores, most people wouldn’t want to stuff their faces in it. Here are some healthy foods that you will want to eat in order to prevent cold sores.

Plain Yogurt

Swiss Cheese

Beets

Papaya

Mango

Salmon

Chicken

Avocado

Fig

Nearly any kind of cheese will work for you. For best results, you might want to get lysine supplements. During cold season, or whenever you feel a bit weak or itchy in one spot of your mouth, lysine pills will really help prevent cold sores. Ever since I had them in my cupboard I haven’t gotten one cold sore.
