What is Kyphosis, Lordosis and Scoliosis?

comes from Greek – kyphos which is mean a hump, also called hunchback, is a common condition of a curvature of the upper spine. The problem is when the upper spine or cervical region become like C curve to make the body bent forward if you see from the lateral side. The problems occurred when the result of degenerative diseases, developmental problems, and osteoporosis with compression fractures of the vertebrae. The disc will degenerate parallel with your age, the longest your age will degenerate the disc as well due to decreasing the water proportion inside. However the degenerate not distribute to all surface but only one side which is at the front. So, that’s mean the body will move forward or we call it as flexion.

Lordosis is commonly referred to as swayback or saddle back when a medical term used to describe an inward curvature of a portion of the vertebral column. This problem same as kyphosis but against side of bent. When your body bent backward we call it as extension phenomena. Two segments of the vertebral column, namely cervical and lumbar, are normally lordotic, that is, they are set in a curve that has its convexity anteriorly (the front) and concavity posteriorly (behind), in the context of human anatomy. The disc degenerate at the spinous process side; and we can see the C curve from the lateral view.


The big problem is when the people facing the scoliosis pain. Scoliosis comes from Greek word: skoliosis meaning “crooked condition,” from skolios, “crooked”. It is a medical condition in which a person’s spine is curved from side to side. The scoliosis spine may look more like an “S” or a “C” than a straight line viewed from the posterior side. This condition affects approximately 7 million people in the United States. The trouble also refers to the disc problem when it degenerates at lumbar and cervical region. At cervical the disc will bent forward and at lumbar bent backward and otherwise.


The conclusion is the spine has many problems and it will affect our body very high risk because it have so many nerve or root inside it. Once your spine failure, such as crack, fracture and so on your body will fail as well. So, keep your spine in good health condition with do the exercise frequently every week.
