Myth: Most people who are born with Down syndrome are put in institutions away from the mainstream public.
Fact: Not true. In todays society people with Down syndrome can be given just as many opportunities as the average person.
Myth: People with Down syndrome don’t like other people.
Fact: People with Down syndrome are very affectionate people.
Myth: People with Down syndrome don’t live very long.
Fact: Medical Treatment is improving the life span of a person with Down syndrome constanly.
Myth: Adults with Down syndrome are not fit for work.
Fact: Most people with Down syndrome can work in a normal enviroment. For those who can’t, there are specialised work places.

Thanks Paul for putting the record straight. I have a daughter with Downs Syndrome. She’s 8, very bright and friendly and everyone loves her.
