Top 10 Ways to Beat a Physical Disability

I will describe steps that can be taken to beat a physical disability, any physical disability. Yes, you can win and be victorious if you want to succeed bad enough.

I will describe steps that can be taken to beat a physical disability, any physical disability. Yes, you can win and be victorious if you want to succeed bad enough.

Wanting it is a lot of it, but that doesn’t replace hard work. Even though the tasks put before you may seem childish and stupid at first glance, do your best to complete the work given you. Many times, the benefits cannot be readily seen by you or your family, but your therapist knows what he or she is doing, and has been trained in the specific area. Whether that be Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, or Speech Therapy, fulfilling the requirements set before you is quite essential.

To definitely beat a physical disability, think positively! This goes for anything that is difficult to do: attempting something like cutting something with scissors or drawing a straight line, don’t think you will probably mess up. That is negative and all but guarantees that you will fail. It is self defeating and not helpful to what you want to accomplish. So banish such thoughts!

As you attempt to do it, fill your mind with pleasant thoughts-the kind that occupied your mind before you were hurt. Because only then will you have a chance at success. Think of yourself as having already completed the job, and you soon shall.

As for saying, “I can’t,” don’t say you can’t, because then you probably won’t. Can’t is negative but can is positive. If you think you can, then you have a much better chance at success than if you think you can’t. Also if you say it, you are thinking it. (By that, I mean telling somebody, “I can’t!” is the same as thinking it; it saps any chance you have. So think you can do whatever it is you want to do, and you have a good chance of doing it!

Going along with positive thinking, is trying at what you want done. It may seem dumb to mention it, but you have to try. And take it from me; a half-hearted effort often won’t do it. You have to give everything you’ve got many times and sometimes it takes a lot of attempts before you get it right. But try hard!

You’ll Never Know Unless You Try

Keep trying even when you think it won’t be any better. (To keep trying is called perseverance.) If you are able to succeed at a task, even if it took several attempts and what seemed like forever, it will be a little easier the next time. It will still be difficult, but just a tiny bit easier.

What I am going to say now is probably the most important thing yet. Don’t ever give up. You probably don’t think it matters at all, but it does. A lot!

Giving up is admitting defeat; it is like saying, “I don’t have the determination or the heart to do this. I don’t have the right stuff to do it.” Who among us wants to admit that?

To be as normal as you can be is often the goal, so what that means is, you actually will have to do a little more than the next guy-and exercise is often what it takes.

When you first decide to work on your body–and believe me, it IS work–visit a gym and see if they have the staff to assist you if you need it. If they have it that’s great; if not then find a gym that has the employees to lend a hand when needed.

Here is another thing: because it is relevant how you think about your role in life and because attitude is everything, it is important to think positively. Thinking positively will only help you succeed.

By thinking good thoughts about something, for instance, that you will do it right this time, it puts a germ of success into your subconscious mind.

Then if you try and get it right, it’s as if that germ of success has been fertilized with super-growth-hormone. That causes a chain reaction of successes. And after they begin, successes can’t be stopped from happening. You will succeed again and again and again.

It’s kind of like standing up dominoes in a line, and then hitting the first one. It causes a great chain reaction! I realize that my words may sound like empty promises and very unlikely, but I speak from experience. I have lived it, I have done it. And I want to share what I’ve learned. I strive to empower disabled individuals.

Especially about what the body can do when influenced by right and proper thinking. Just follow my guidelines and retrain your mind by thinking positive thoughts.

The brain controls everything. I bet you’ve always known that. If you’ve had a brain injury, then it’s vital that you retrain your brain to work as it did previously. You can begin to do that by thinking positive thoughts and persevering at things.

Think Positively! Imagine the Best Possible Outcome and That is Often What you Get!

I’ll let you in on a little talked about secret: the mind is very, very powerful! I bet you don’t realize just how powerful. Most people don’t.

Think of the brain as a supercomputer that is able to regulate a million different tasks while helping heal countless other little injuries. That’s what your brain does every second of every day. It is a gift from the Author of Life…

After being disabled for a while, things will not be such a struggle and the fight will not be so fierce. And if you are like me, you will have adopted a confident approach to life and will never give up!
