My Struggles with Weight Loss

What I have learned in my weight loss battle is that you have to be willing to put in real effort. Taking the time to exercise and track your food intact can be complicated, but if weight loss is your goal it is absolutely worth it.

I had three children within five years. The weight gain from those pregnancies took a beating on my body. Losing the weight was never as easy as gaining it was.

After my third child I was resolute that I was going to drop the weight that had been sitting on me for so long. At first I was suckered in by advertising for meal replacement drinks and appetite suppressant pills. I learned the hard way that these types of quick fix solutions do not work.

What I have learned in my weight loss battle is that you have to be willing to put in real effort. Taking the time to exercise and track your food intact can be complicated, but if weight loss is your goal it is absolutely worth it. In fact, doing anything less than putting in the effort will only end in frustration.

I have seen many women like me, mothers who were unhappy about their post-pregnancy bodies, become frustrated when they were unable to look like the celebrity mothers on TV. That depression can quickly lead back into weight gain. It was a hard lesson, but one I had to learn. My body will not be the same it was before pregnancy. Not without the help of expensive personal trainers, dietitians, and plastic surgeons.

Weight loss after pregnancy has to be more about being healthier and stronger. If you are more concerned about looking as if you never had a pregnancy, chances are you will fail. Only the raregenetically lucky and fabulously wealthy will succeed in that luxury.

Weight loss after pregnancy can be frustrating. There are so many products being marketed to us and too many images of perfectly thin mothers. But with a willingness to exercise, eat healthy, and accept that your body will never be the same you can avoid the weight loss roller coaster.
