How to Get Fit in Fifteen Minutes a Day

Doing focused activity just 15 minutes everyday is a good start towards an energized lifestyle. Chiropractic doctors recommend 15 minutes of exercises for improved muscle and joint functions. Once an individual has made fifteen minutes of daily exercises a part of his day, it will get him started on a lifestyle change for healthy living.

Inactivity and listlessness is very common in older people, especially if they have retired from their jobs, or if they will retire in a couple of years. Most of them do not want to start strenuous exercises or the commitment to go to the gym on a regular basis.

Fifteen minutes of exercise a day will result in improved heart health, better circulation, greater strength and flexibility, improved stamina and a brighter outlook. If it is difficult to start a new healthy regimen of exercise and sticking to it, there are ways for you to look forward to this activity than staying comfortable in front of the TV or playing with your computer the rest of the day.

A fitness activity can be done while listening to the radio or playing music so it can be doubly enjoyable. You can even do indoor exercises in front of your TV set, so you wouldn’t miss your favorite program. These distractions make the fifteen minutes fly by and you get your fitness program while enjoying the other things you usually do. If you like the outdoors, brisk walking along your street or while going to the convenience store is a great way to get your fifteen minutes of exercise a day. Balancing the weight of two grocery bags on your way back is an added bonus.

 

If you have a friend living nearby, you can get active with him on a buddy system. You can walk with a friend, your life partner, a neighbor; one of your children, a relative or you can even walk the dog.  You can take advantage of this work-out to have fun, talk, laugh and connect with your buddy.  Even dogs will listen to your prattle and bark in reply once in a while.

Pick the time of day for the best time to do your fifteen minutes work-out. Make it an activity to look forward to, and schedule your other activities around it, so you will not miss your daily fifteen minutes.  There are always other things that will need your attention or take you away from your home base, so if you miss a day or two of your work out go back to it as soon as you can and re-establish your routine.
