If you are a gym hater or you are the one who dreads the sight of the treadmill and can’t bear to get onto the exercise cycle, but still dying to lose those extra inches. Then you can follow some funny activities that will help you in your weight loss and will also help you to learn a new skill.

Aerobics

Step aside plain, simple aerobic routines and dance to your favourite fast and non stop music. And if done right, one can burn 700 calories per session.

The dance cum exercise form uses a signature movie dance steps, which is a fun and exhilarating work out. Try to do it in group so that you feel motivated to go on, even if you go tired. So put on some rocking movie songs and adapt a few regular dance steps to it and get going.

Pilates 

This form of exercise emphasises on the balanced development of the body through core strength, flexibility and awareness. This works well for everyone. It trains the body as an integrated whole.

The workout promotes strength and balanced muscle development as well as flexibility and increased range of motion for the joints. If practiced regularly it will help to improve muscle tone, balance musculature, supports beautiful posture, teaches you to move with ease and grace.

Kickboxing

Though martial arts has always been very popular, the newest range in town is kickboxing. It is an amazing workout. It combines the style of boxing with kicking. It is a perfect workout. It is a total body workout involving both cardio and contact which helps in increasing flexibility and toning up.

Besides these, there is also various stretching exercise and abdominal workouts that one is made to do.

There is also another form called Muay Thai, which is the art of eight limbs which uses the whole body, especially the hips and core. This workout helps not only to increase agility, speed, strength but also cardiovascular endurance and is a great stress reliever. You can also pick up some few important self defence techniques.

Capoeira

This is an Afro-Brazilian art form called capoeira. It engages all the muscle groups and offers significant toning and cardiovascular benefits.

It helps to develop flexibility, balance, coordination and endurance.

Dancer-size

This is a fun activity that consists of half an hour intensive workout and half an hour of a dance routine which includes steps from hip-hop and jazz. The routine is simple. The first session consists of warm ups including stretching which helps to tone up the muscles and burn away the inches and the second session is thecardio session which gives the body a total workout.

Apart from the exercise, this is a good way to learn a form of dance and develop a sense of style. The routines are never repeated so people don’t feel bore doing it.

Power Yoga

Everyone is aware of the benefits of yoga, but power yoga is a yoga that is adapted to the beats of music. This form of yoga is fast paced and quite a strenuous exercise.

There are no fixed poses to be followed, the variation depend on the instructor. More emphasis is made on the strength and elasticity of the body. This yoga if done thrice in a week for 45 minutes in a day gives wonderful results.
