People go to aerobics to stay in shape, swim laps to burn calories and see a shrink to find peace. What I told you that every night you already do an activity that has several benefits for both the body and the mind?

Sleep helps the body repair

Everyday people take their bodies all sorts of places. We thrust our bodies out there to walk the paths of our lives without any protection from the elements like UV rays or the damages to the skin that stress can cause. Luckily when we’re all tucked in, our bodies are busy working to produce helpful proteins that help the cells repair the daily damage.

Sleep and the brain:

It is said that a person who doesn’t dream is disturbed mentally. Sleep and dreams are needed in order to process, remember and draw conclusions about the day’s events.

The neurons may not function correctly due to a waste build up if they don’t have time to repair themselves during sleep. If someone falls asleep after learning something, it may solidify the knowledge. A person who is severely sleep deprived may experience disorientation and even hallucinations.

Sleep and emotion:

In order to wake up on the right side of the bed as my mother always used to say, it is important to go to bed early because the part of the brain that controls mood an emotion needs all the time it can get to recharge so it performs at it’s best.

Sleep and the immune system:

When cold and flu season comes it’s no surprise that the doctor recommends lack of sleep. Without it, the immune system is significantly weakened and susceptible to illness.

Sleeping is a free, enjoyable effortless way to improve our health, intelligence, concentration, appearance and general well-being. It’s one of the few health routines everyone can get into!
