This is an example of how your reading skills can help you make your body a lot stronger. I have used visualization to help me exercise on several occasions.
When anyone is about to go for their three mile jog on some streets around town they should stretch out their hips and legs. Nine years ago before I had learned of a gym town that was the way I started getting back in shape. I would use the same yoga that actors use to get into character before they hit the stage.
Stretching out like that really prepares the legs. I would make sure I visualized a mule. That way I would have the right character to jog up to three miles as. Mules got picked out over something like race horses or roping horses because they tend to be very strong. When one is ridden up in the mountains you don’t have to worry about it stumbling and falling off into the canyon.
Taking on that kind of character tends to make me feel stronger for a longer distance. It’s just that I’m like everyone else and there are some spots where my jogging really slows down. I can hardly keep on going. When fatigue hits harshly it has really helped me keep going to visualize the back side of a horse neck and head. That way it starts to feel just like I’m trotting along. I can always mentally tell that horse to giddy up and go.
That inexpensive form of exercise got let go off when a public gym was discovered. When you are in one lifting weights the toughest character must be taken up on. I would visualize a lion. That way the weights could be attacked like a lion would go for whatever prey is available for it.
When one becomes that kind of character exercises like the bench press become easier. It’s just that in order to get your muscles to lift the extra heavy weights it must generate a lot of adrenaline. That can be done by visualizing something that makes you angry. While laying on the bench pressing the weights up I would visualize things like high school fist fights. Every time I saw the guy who broke one of my front teeth the weight got lighter.
Every other day I would exercise my legs in that gym. That got me into jogging on one of the indoor tracks they had. It always made that easier when I visualized the three mile route I used to jog on outside. It even helped me slow down just a bit when I visualized a shade tree. I would usually slow down a bit in the shade just to catch my breath a bit. The idea was to never walk at all.
