Sedentary Lifestyle
About how to live healthier and become more active.
Too many of us live lives lacking physical activity. We sit at work, while driving, at home watching television or in front of a computer, while dining out, at the movies, games, theater, bars, clubs, and the list goes on.
Unless you regularly exercise, chances are, you are only apparently active and mostly immobile.
Our bodies are created for motion. Acting otherwise is unnatural and harmful. Inactivity causes us to suffer aches, pains, stiffness, mental and physical tension, and weight problems. We try solving the problem at the doctor’s or chiropractor’s office with unrealistic expectations. The body cannot be taken care of occasionally or by someone else.
What does work is an overall change in habits and paying attention to details like a comfortable chair and car seat, normal weight maintenance, a proper posture, and most of all physical awareness.
If you have to sit at your desk all day, try exercising before or after work. At the office stretch regularly, stand up and walk around or jump up and down for a minute. Do this hourly if you can.
Make sure you get a sufficient amount of sleep and exercise. Eat as healthy as you can. Important are also regular bowel movements.
Take a good look at your personal life. See if you need to take steps toward healthier relationships, a better sex life, and more inner peace. Reduce stress by focusing on an increasingly positive outlook and avoid unnecessary medication, alcohol, and drugs.
Keep your abs in shape and your bones strong.
For exercise you can regularly visit a gym and start practicing yoga or pilates with a goal of developing harmony of mind, body, and spirit. Be more mindful of your posture, alignment, and coordination.
To avoid or decrease tension you need to improve your circulation. This is easily achieved through regular physical activity. Along with exercise, walk as much as possible. Regular workouts will improve your body’s ability to absorb nutrients and function at maximum potential. Your spine will be strengthened, you will feel motivated and balanced.
