Do you want fast, quick, easy six pack abs? Is it nearly bikini season, and you want to look your best? No worries! I will let you in on a little secret that will make you look ripped, in no time at all.
Ok. So let me let you all in on a little secret. SIX PACK ABS ARE NOT OBTAINED BY DOING AB WORKOUTS.
Let me repeat that: SIX PACKS ARE NOT OBTAINED BY DOING AB WORKOUTS.
Alright, let me explain.
It is a common misconception that people can “get” abs, that to do so, you have to do endless crunches and leg raises and sit ups and all of that ugly stuff. This is simply not true. You see, EVERYONE has abs. Everyone has a six pack, simply because everyone has that muscle group. The reason it is just not visible for everyone is that most people have a layer of FAT in front of their abdominal muscles. This layer of fat is natural, it is just that the stomach is where the body naturally stores fat. Don’t believe me? Reach down to your stomach and try to pinch the flesh there. Even if you are really skinny, or normal sized, you most likely are able to pinch about half an inch of flesh. This is the fat covering your six pack. So it is not a matter of GETTING a six pack, but of getting your six pack to SHOW.
What does this mean? It means that doing ab excersises doesn’t really do much at all. So sit ups, crunches, all of that stuff is useless if your aim is to get a ripped looking torso. What you need to do is lose that layer of fat in front of your abdominals. That means cardio. Now I know this sounds strange. “What? Getting six pack abs means RUNNING, and not doing crunches?” It is true. You would be far better off jogging or running daily to reach your desired muscle definition, than doing ab workouts. By doing cardio, you are burning fat, and specifically the fat covering your abs. Now, remember, you have to be REALLY lean to have a visible six pack. Your body fat percentage will have to be really low. So do cardio a lot, doing it daily would speed up the process of your road to a six pack remarkably. Results should come soon, in about a week or two of dedicated cardio training you will begin to notice results, but do not stop there.
So if doing crunches, sit ups, and other ab workouts does not do anything to give you a six pack, what is the point of these excercises? Well, quite simply, they DO make your abdominals stronger and bigger. The thing is, though, it doesn’t matter HOW big your abs are, they still won’t show if there is that layer of fat there. Doing ab excersises is also great for upper body strength, lower back pain, posture, and much more.
So what are you waiting for? Hop on that excersise bike, or hit the track, or just take a jog to work everyday! In no time you will see excellent definition! YOU CAN get six pack abs!
