Walk It Out

Cleanse Your Spirit and Wash Your Soul.

Walk It Out

Let’s see, it’s been literally years since I’ve done any kind of “consistent” exercise. I’ve bought the videos, exercised along with the cable fitness gurus, and for a while partnered with my son exercising—all in an effort to get in shape. So, after much thought,–what is it to think about when your health is at stake—I put on my clothes and tennis shoes and drove to the park…which is actually in walking distance. I got out of the car and took those first few steps.

If you listen to the doctors, they say, walking is one of the best exercises you can do for healthy living. It is supposed to help rid the body of toxins while at the same time increasing your strength and endurance. My goal was to make it around the track at least five times. So, I started my walk, one foot in front of the other, and as I walked I noticed not just the physical sensations in my body, but the activity of my mind. What I found was that… hmmm, how do I put this? It wasn’t just the physical exercise that helped me that day.

I started saying in my mind, walk it out. Walk what out? Walk it out—the disappointments, walk it out—the hurt and anger—walk it out, the shame, guilt and jealousies that had burdened my heart and mind—walk it out, the fear of success—walk it out—the fear of failure, fear of loneliness, fear of defeat—walk it all out!!! Tears flooded my face, prayers went up to God, and a new determination for life sprang inside of me. At the end of the walk a glob of white mass spewed from my mouth.  Was it the toxins in my body or some nefarious spirit that had to find its way out? Which ever, I had clarity of mind and determination of heart.

So when you have a day of stress, doubt, unbelief or sadness, find the nearest park and—walk it out!!!

  9. What a great piece. I love that you can multi-task and NOT be on your cell! You can cleanse your body, mind and soul at the same time while doing something most of us(especially me) definitely NEED but dread doing…any type of excercise! Now that we know we can, let’s not stop…”just walk it out!”
