Yoga Postures for The Seven Chakras in Human Body

Chakras as we all know refers to the energy centers in the human body which is vertically aligned in the center of the body close to the spine. Each of these Chakras is associated with a different part of the body along the spine from the perineum to the crown of your head. A proper balance in the seven Chakras is essential for us to have good health. An imbalance in the chakras can result in diseases and ill health. Yoga postures can help in aligning the chakras and making them healthy and active.

Each chakra corresponds to an area of the body and has a set of behavioral characteristics. The Chakras function like valves that regulate the flow of energy through our energy system. There are seven major chakras in the human body. They are Root Chakra, Sacral Chakra, Solar Plexus Chakra, Heart Chakra, Throat Chakra, Third Eye Chakra and crown chakra. Each of these Chakras is associated with a different part of the body along the spine from the perineum to the crown of your head.  A proper balance in the 7 Chakras in Human Body is essential for us to have good health. An imbalance in the chakras can result in diseases and ill health. Yoga postures can help in aligning the chakras and making them healthy and active.

By practicing Yoga one can learn to focus the concentration and energy to and from the various chakras in your body.  By balancing the energy among all seven of the chakras a balance can be achieved.

 

Yoga Postures for the different Chakras

Find below the different chakras, their locations, diseases associated with them and yoga exercises for chakras.

  1. Root Chakra: Root Chakra is the first chakra and is located at the base of the spine and groin and is associated with adrenals, kidneys, muscles and blood. An imbalance in this Chakra can cause diseases and conditions like Constipation, back pain, diarrhea, piles, colitis, high blood pressure, obesity, kidney stones and impotence. Some good yoga postures for the Base or Root Chakra are Setu Bandhasana (Bridge Posture), Shalabhasana and Janu Shirshasana. 

  2. Sacral Chakra: Sacral Chakra is the second Chakra and is located at the genitals and is associated with reproductive organs and stomach. An imbalance in this Chakra can cause diseases and conditions like uterine fibroids, pre-menstrual syndrome, irregular periods, ovarian cysts, irritable bowel syndrome, endometriosis, testicular disease, low back pain and prostate disease. Some good yoga postures to practice for the Sacral Chakra health are Bhujangasana (Cobra Posture), Trikonasana (Triangle Posture), Ardha Pada Hastasana and Ardha Matsyendrasana.
