Yoga is the physical and mental discipline of the body and mind. Yoga originated from India after people found sacred texts called Vedas which had depictions of people in a yoga or meditation type of posture.

Yoga originated from India after people found sacred texts called Vedas which had depictions of people in a yoga or meditation type of posture. There are five different types of yoga’s: Raja Yoga, Karma Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, and Hatha Yoga. Raja Yoga is the physical and mental control of oneself. Karma Yoga is the detachment from ego by performing selfless actions. Jnana Yoga is the path of knowledge. Bhakti Yoga is the path of devotion, prayer and worship. Hatha Yoga is the preparatory stage of physical purification and is also the form of yoga most people practice in our society.

I chose this topic because I already had some basic knowledge on the topic. I find yoga to be an important part of a healthy life. Yoga has many advantages and no disadvantages, yoga allows you to become focused, relaxed and relieves stress in rough times.
