Banana: Not Just a Fruit as You Think

There are 16 facts of what banana can do and contribute for us to be healthy.

Banana! I just don’t know why it isn’t my favorite. Maybe it’s the taste and kinda mushy when I swallow it, since I was a child I barely eat banana. Not until I found out why and how important can be for me of consuming banana everyday. Here are some of the facts that amazes me!

Banana has three natural types of sugar found in it :

  • Sucrose
  • Glucose
  • Fructose

These sugars along with fiber are what provides you with an instant boost of sustained and substantial energy. Fact is if you were to eat two bananas prior to a 90 minutes workout you will have enough energy to last through the entire workout. Perhaps this is the reason so many top athletes eat their bananas. There is more to this delicioso fruit other than just the fitness benefit of the banana. It actually assists us in preventing a substantial number of physical ailments, conditions and diseases.

  1. Stroke

    The New England Journal of Medicine reported that eating bananas as pasrt of regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%.

  2. Blood Pressure

    High in Potassium, this tropical fruit is extremely low in salt, making it the perfect way to beat blood pressure. In fact the USDA allows the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit’s ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

  3. Heartburn

    If you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief because of the natural antacid effects in the body.

  4. Premenstrual Syndrome

    Vitamin B6 in this fruit helps regulate blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.

  5. Depression

    Because trytophan is a substance found in the banana they are helpful for depression. Trytophan helps the body by converting this protein in serotonin. This action helps with relaxation and can stimulate feelings of happiness. So another benefit of eating bananas are mood enhancement.

  6. Anaemia

    Bananas help with the production of hemoglobin in your blood and are high in Iron which helps with symptoms of anaemia.

    Because fiber is good for our digestion, including banana in diet can help restore normal bowel action without resorting to laxatives.

    For those who had late nights drinking hard alcohol, this is a wonderful way to quickly cure hangover. Just make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. This fruit calms the stomach and the honey helps builds up depleted blood sugar levels. The milk also soothes and rehydrates your system.

    Pregnant women often get morning sickness as their blood sugar bounces around. Snacking on bananas during the day between meals can help bring relief.

  16. Ofcourse effects of eating bananas still depends on the person’s body. If a person is allergice to banana, then ingestion should be avoided. But if you think you have no allergies or whatsoever that may lead you to being ill then consumption of this fruit should be avoided or much better if consulted to your physcian.
