Coffee Benefits: Health and Aging
In the past, many people have been concerned with the long term effects of drinking coffee and have gone out of their way to consume something else, in a bid to steer clear of its negative effects.
Scientists however, have now discovered that there are many positives to drinking coffee, the top ten of which are listed below.
- The fact that coffee is loaded with caffeine and antioxidants means that it can give relief to the sufferers of asthma and migraines.
- Its antioxidants stops ageing because they prevent free radicals in the body from causing damage to cells.
- Coffee boosts the bodies energy as displayed by such drinks as Gatorade (if you’re American) and power Ade (if you’re British).
- Research has shown that drinking two cups of coffee a day halves the chances of developing gallstones.
- A link has also been shown between those that drink coffee regularly and are at a risk of liver injuries having those chances reduced also.
- Chances of liver cirrhosis is decreased to only 20%.
- Drinking two mugs of coffee a day will dramatically lower the chance of cancer of the colon.
- Parkinson’s disease is reduced by an 80% chance by those who consume coffee regularly.
- Coffee staves off diabetes by as much as 11%
- Coffee reduces the chance of heart problems in women by 24%

I too have read that coffee is now considered to be “good” in the diet. I am sure a lot of coffeeaholics are glad to hear that. However, I will warn that these researchers change direction on what is “good” food and “bad” food more often than Paris Hilton says “that’s hot.” Eggs are perfect examples of the wishwashy nature of these food studies.

I love coffee and can’t drink enough of it. 2 to 3 cups a day at least, which is less than what I used to have. It’s a great pick-me-up to jump-start the day.

Very interesting. Tea has the same qualities and perhaps more, especially green tea. Thanks for sharing.
Best wishes,
