Snoring is a major problem for majority of the population. I know of people who go to the extent of divorcing their partner because of snoring. According to a recent research, snoring is considered the most common sleeping disorders. Even though snoring does not harm anyone, it is always better to avoid it. Are there simple ways by which one can stop snoring? Yes…there are ways. What are they? Here are some of the ways to stop snoring.
- Sleep on your side, rather sleeping by lying on your back. Few snorers snore only when the lie on their back. This is because tissues near the throat, neck and chest gets congested when lying on the back.
- Are you obese? This could be one of the reasons for you snoring. Reduce overweight by taking up a balanced diet program in combination with exercise.
- Lack of sleep and too much of stress too contributes to snoring. Make a regular sleeping routine and stick to it. Ensure you go to bed at the right time and getting enough sleep. If you have too much work pressure and are stressed out, try doing meditation or yoga. This not only keeps you healthy and fit, but will also restrain your snoring habit.
- Consumption of alcohol and smoking too are one of the causes for snoring. When you smoke, airway gets swollen and this makes the tonsils to rub along with the airway. This causes snoring. Similarly, people consuming alcohol too snore a lot. Avoiding these habits make you to lead a healthy life and at the same time help in avoiding snoring.
- Nasal congestion could be another reason for snoring. Try using nasal strips. If you are allergic, use air filtration units and keep your home as clean as possible. If you have pets at home, ensure you remove the pet hair as this might be a cause for allergies.
- You can try using anti-snoring devices. These devices generally ensure that your mouth is closed when you are sleeping and you breathe through your nose. This way they help you avoid snoring.
- Are you pregnant and has the habit of snoring? Please consult your doctor immediately as your yet-to-born baby may not get enough oxygen if you are snoring.
- Try sleeping by elevating your head to avoid snoring.
- Do exercise and yoga regularly, especially breathing exercises. They help you stop snoring and at the same time makes physically and mentally fit.
With these tips, you can either avoid or stop snoring completely. Rejuvenate your married life if snoring is causing a disharmony in your marital relationship.

My mother used to snore at night and was told by her friend to try this nasal flow teapot looking device. It came with packets of salt and you mixed it with water in this little teapot looking cup. You put the nozzle to one nostril and you let the water go in and it comes out the other nostril. It’s actually pretty amazing. She doesn’t snore anymore and will just do this method about once a week.

Use a Neti Pot. They’re 100% the cure for a lot of people I know. Use it about an hour before you go to bed and it works like magic. I’ve had success with it (my wife didn’t divorce me like she said she would) so I’m sold on it.

Thanks for such great info! At first I thought snoring can be prevented through eating peppers when I saw the peppers images! I wanted to know information regarding beauty as well. I have heard something like sheep placenta which helps in preventing us from aging. Do you have any idea about it and may I know something more regarding long natural health, and especially sheep placenta benefits! Is there any minimum age to consume sheep placenta? I’m afraid my skin might be used to it when I aged and there’s nothing more product to maintain the youthfulness of my skin! Thank you very much! Looking forward to your reply!

I am a Chiropractor in Reno, NV and I agree with most of the other comments and with this article. I typically tell my patients to try a neti pot and I have had good results using a dental device that my dentist recommended that helps to lift my lower jaw and open my airway. Good article.
