Does Laughing Improve Your Health?
About whether or not laughing improves your overall health and if it actually enables you to live longer.
Laughing, it can occur at any time. It occurs when we see or read something funny. It can occur when we watch something funny or it can also happen if we think about something funny. Some people tend to laugh at almost everything but does this actually let you live longer than people that laugh very rarely? Many people have said that laughing does not enable you to live longer but instead it may reduce your stress level which could let you live longer. This is only partially true because laughing does indeed lower your stress level but it also does so many other things that are good for your body.
When you laugh you release endorphins which are natural pain killers. This explains why several people feel physically better after laughing. The level of endorphins released is variant on the person and their level of fitness, this is why some people feel much better after laughing during a migraine, etc. Something else that laughter does is lower your blood pressure, this is definitely good for your overall health especially at older ages when this becomes a real problem. The reduction in blood pressure also results in the lowering of stress which lowers the stress on your immune system to cope with these problems. This relief on your immune system is surely a good way to increase your lifespan as well as keep influenza at bay.
Yet another good thing about laughter is that it is a good method of exercise when you’re not running on the treadmill or climbing stairs. A good strong laugh is equal to the amount of calories that you burn in a minute of running on the treadmill. This is a fantastic exercise method. On average most humans would laugh between 20-50 times a day. Which is equal to almost an hour of running on the treadmill!
Laughter is indeed the best medicine because it can ease the entire body and allow our brains as well as muscles and organs to relax for a bit which builds an overall healthy body. Laughter is a remedy to almost every kind of stress or problem therefore laughter improves ones overall mental health as well.
Some people are so serious that they develop heart problems, mental issues, body aches and constantly get sick. All this can be avoided by simply chuckling a few times a day.
I hope that all you serious-types have taken something out of this article and I am sure that laughing is indeed one of the best medicines as the old saying goes.
You can tell that this monkey wont live for very long, where’s the smile?

I liked this article! Thank You. It is a good reminder to laugh even more than I already do.
It just so happens that my son was at the Dr today. She diagnosed my son with influenza. This article mentioned that laughter lowers the stress on our immune system as well as keeps inflenza at bay. I will be tickling my son alot to day to help his influenza!
