Unhealthy gums may lead to premature delivery

Periodontal disease is an inflammatory gum disease suffered by most of the pregnant women due to high level of estrogen and progesterone produced in their bodies. Here the bacteria present in our mouth come in contact with blood vessel surrounding the gums, causing them to bleed. When the bacterium is not thrown out by following good hygiene habits, it releases a toxin known as prostraglandias that’s responsible for low birth weight of babies and premature babies.

Lack of oral health can cause a stroke

It is not necessary that all those who suffer strokes are smokers or alcoholics. Patients with chronic gum infections such as excessive tartar accumulation on the teeth, transmits to the blood vessels. This infection causes clogging of the arteries, as it gets disintegrated into in a certain section of the blood vessel, eventually leading to a stroke.

Chipped tooth can cause cancer

A sharp chipped denture ruptures the skin inside our mouth, leading to mouth ulcers and dead cells. Though our body automatically builds new cells, these too are ruptured, if it is not treated. Slowly, it causes alteration in the cell mechanism and can cause oral cancer in the long run.

Tooth extracting and missing tooth can cause headache

A minor surgery of tooth extraction can trigger a migraine attack. Even stress that a patient experiences before and after a dental operation contributes to the onset of a migraine. Another factor responsible for headaches could be missing teeth for a prolonged period.

Maintain oral hygiene to solve diabetic problem

Patients suffering from diabetes should maintain oral hygiene and effective treatment of gums as it improves certain diabetic complications like hyperglycaemia.
