Feeling Great is high on everyone’s agenda, but how can we stay so with such a stressful world around us. Here are seven helpful tips to help you on your way…
- Good Food; Good food is vital to a healthy mind and body. Consuming a varied and healthy diet promotes the brain releasing mood boosting chemicals, where as junk foods high in sugar can provide a short boost, but quickly lead to a mood flattening come down.
- Sleep; Lack of Sleep not only damages your ability to concentrate for long, but is also highly correlated to increased stress levels, 8 hours is a fairly good amount to get. Regular restful sleep is also important as the body likes to adapt to a routine, and interrupted sleep does not allow progression into deeper sleep, which can be the most beneficial.
- Hobbies; Everybody likes to have something that they are really good at, whether it is a musical instrument, painting or writing a novel a hobby provides somewhere to go when life gets on top of you. And remember practice makes perfect, so if you feel you aren’t up to scratch with something you would like to do try, try again until you are!
- Work; For many working towards a constructive goal brings many benefits, and the rewards can be huge. There is nothing more satisfying than completing a task you have been struggling to complete. Also this helps prevent time being wasted on lesser tasks that may cause negative feeling of wasted time, after all, everybody likes to feel they are doing something with their lives. However do not forget to take time out and relax!
- Exercise; Regular exercise not only makes you look better; it makes you feel a lot better too. The powerful endorphin hormone is pumped round the system raising mood and giving you a positive outlook on life.
- Relationships; Forging good relationships, whether that be with a partner, with friends or colleagues or even online can give massive confidence boosts and really bring people out of their shell. New people can be met fairly easily, either through neighbourhood schemes such as volunteer work, in the workplace or online.
- Self esteem; Linked to previous reason self esteem is highly important factor in maintaining happiness. Self esteem allows you to take control of the life you deserve. Anybody without self-esteem has yet to realise his or her full potential. If you notice a friend is feeling low try compliments to help raise self esteem, happiness is sure to follow.
- Relaxation; Never forget to take time out of your schedule to step out of the busy flow of life and relax. A long soak in a warm bath with relaxing music can do wonders to help forget about all life’s worries. Many find long walks, meditation or getting outside and enjoying nature also helps. However you go about relaxation remember the main purpose is to forget about all else, take away all the stress and just enjoy being with you.
I hope this helps, happiness is free to everybody and is a gift that should not be ignored. Don’t let anybody put you down, we are who we are, and should be proud.
