Eliminate Stress: Keep a Healthy Heart
This focuses on the connections between stress and heart health. It discusses the fact that the better stress is dealt with the healthier the body will function.
Stress is one of many factors which are known to increase the risk of heart disease. In fact, high stresses are culprits linked to escalating the effects of many illnesses. The tricky thing about stress is that over time, it is often noticed less and less. This puts the body, both physically and emotionally in jeopardy.
There is a gambit of outside influences to which our bodies react negatively. It could be something as simple as traffic, or more serious, like a reprimand at work. No matter what the cause, stress has a way of creeping into every life. Dealing with it wisely is the key to keeping a heart healthy.
Reader’s Digest magazine explains some of the ways our bodies react to stress. Symptoms such as rapid breathing, increased blood flow to the brain, the liver releasing more blood sugar, can be triggered by stress. When all of these are set into motion, the heart beats at a more rapid pace, which is usually detected quickly by the person experiencing stress.
Most often stress is experienced by sufferers who are at work. The idea is to find creative ways to combat the problem, so that long term effects do not produce chronic ailments. Short of leaving the office, what are some simple ways to release the stress? Here are three tips that will keep your heart healthy:
* A few minutes of silence . Sometimes all you need is to take a short break. Breathe deeply and clear your mind! Have a 5-10 minute getaway right at your desk.
* Focus on the good . Maybe silence isn’t the key for you. Use your time to focus on the good things going on in your life, whether it is family, friends, or a hobby. Don’t allow bad situations to take the priority!
* A little music . If you’re able to listen to music at work, find what soothes you and allow it to be a release. Music has been known to positively affect many people suffering from various problems.
* Take a short walk . Perhaps stretching your limbs and breathing in some fresh air can provide a quick relief from stress. What better way of clearing your mind before tackling a project or having a difficult conversation?
