Feeling Under The Weather? Valuable Effective Ways to Remain Flu Free
‘Tis the season for boughs of holly, sniffles, coughing and chills, but you can always remain healthy through it all.
Yes, I’m certain many of you hear your family members, friends and co-workers coughing away while you’re trying to keep your distance or somehow help them get over the beginning of a potential cold as soon as possible. For such situations, I have come up with an effective series of steps to take whenever I feel the slightest bit of a sore throat or chill coming on.
While we all have different remedies that work for us, I’d like to share what has worked for me for about the past two years.
First of all, at the very first signs of a potential cold I make a dash for the grocery store. There I make sure to stock up on Vitamin C, not the supplements, but the real thing: plenty of oranges and pineapples.
Next, I head for the medicine aisle and make a b-line for “Airborne”. If you’ve never heard of it before, it’s truly a miracle product. Invented by Victoria Knight-McDowell, a second grade teacher, Airborne is truly your first line of defense when it comes to fighting the flu.
After I make sure to stack my shopping basket with these items I add plenty of water and whatever other fruit I feel like snacking on. Sometimes I pick up apples, other times melons and so forth.
To make sure I stay as healthy as possible, I then conscientiously eat 2-4 oranges and at least 1 can of Dole pineapples a day (in it’s own 100% juice). (Incidentally, I find that there is something truly magical about oranges. As I eat them, I immediately feel better, each slice seems to soothe my throat and warm my body.)
I also make it essential to drink at least two glasses of Airborne a day. Airborne starts as tablets that you drop into a glass of water. It then quickly dissolves and flavors your water offering you refreshing vitamins and protection against feeling under the weather.
I also find that drinking as many warm beverages as possible helps keep my immune system going strong. I love coffee, but do my best to drink decaffeinated as much as possible (caffeine is a diuretic and makes the body lose water leading to dehydration if you’re not careful, which is counteractive to reviving your health) and herbal teas.
I also make sure to take naps whenever possible and go to bed early until I no longer feel the beginnings of a sore throat or winter chill. I’ve just realized that all these things offer the body jolts of vitamins, relaxation and peaceful feelings that clearly promote feel better energy. Furthermore, studies have shown that by simply saying or thinking that you’re getting better actually makes the body feel better. So, make certain to tell yourself as much as possible throughout the day that you feel great and in no time you’ll feel your best again.
Through combining all these steps consistently, I have thankfully continued to remain flu free for at least 2-3 years straight. Hopefully my ideas work for you or if you’ve got a regime to fight colds that works for you, feel free to share it below!

Thanks for the advice. I heard about Airborne and as long as the fruits and vegetables have not been “irradiated” you can be assured of getting its full potency of vitamin/mineral content. Organic foods are not irradiated. Those that are can lose up to 80% of certain nutrients.

I’m actually thankful for H1N1. Everyone is covering their mouths when they cough and sneeze so colds have been non-existent this winter.
Great reading your work again . j
