How Smoking Cigarettes Affects Your Health

I’m pretty sure you’ve heard and know some of the common effects of smoking cigarettes.

I’m pretty sure you’ve heard and know some of the common effects of smoking cigarettes. With all the anti-smoking campaigns have been underway for years, how can you not know. My personal experience with the effects of smoking was that I had put in much effort to do basic stuff, like walking in the city or climb stairs. I sweat like crazy and had to stop to catch my breath. I quit smoking there are about 5 years and I am happy to have avoided the health problems that arise in pursuit of that habit.

Research has shown that smoking causes diseases that primarily affect the heart and lungs. This increases your risk of heart attacks and strokes. You also increase your chances of getting the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which is two concomitant diseases of the lungs where the airways become narrow. You have ceased to breath because the air passage is reduced. Other diseases that are brought to smoking are lung cancer, laryngeal cancer, oral cancer and pancreatic cancer.

As you continue to smoke regularly and increase the number of cigarettes you smoke per day, you begin to develop a physical and psychological dependence on cigarettes. This occurs mainly due to the nicotine in cigarettes. Nicotine is a powerful ingredient and break his addiction is one of the hardest things to do when you decide to quit.

Smoking cigarettes increases the chances of a man to have lost 85% compared to non-smokers. This occurs because when you smoke, your arteries narrow and not enough blood can flow to where it is needed.

In pregnant women, the risk of miscarriage is very high. Smoking also affects the health of the fetus and infant, increasing the chances of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). There is a scientific correlation between SIDS and pregnant women who smoke or are subjected to secondhand smoke.
