How to Breathe Right
The most efficient way to breath is diaphragmatic breathing or belly breathing. Belly breathing is easy for infants and young children, but as we grow old, we tend to breathe using our chest muscles.
Follow this proper technique of breathing exercises
Sit, stand or lie in a comfortable position.
Maintain a proper posture while standing or sitting and see that your feet’s are flat on the floor and hands are at your side, on your lap or on the belly.
Take a deep breath thrice through your nose and exhale from your mouth. Feel the stress; leave your body with each exhalation.
When you inhale, let the breathe fill your lungs completely and push your belly out.
Exhale completely, till your whole belly moves back in.
Do this continuously for seven times, rest for two minutes and repeat.
Alternating nostril breathing
This is recommended for those suffering from chronic sinusitis, allergies and lung infections.
Sit comfortably on the floor or on the chair, press the thumb of your left side against the left side of your nose, blocking the air passage, and keep the other hand straight.
Breathe in through your right nostril till you count ten.
Move your hand such that your index finger closes the air passage on the right side of your nose. Breathe out of the left nostril for a count of ten. Repeat it five times. Switch hands, inhale through the left nostril and exhale through the right nostril till you count ten. Repeat this five times.
