How to Get The Best Sleep of Your Life
I’ve been working night shifts for many years now and I am always looking for ways to improve the quality of my sleep. Getting good, deep sleep is a challenge for everybody.
Getting good sleep is part of a healthy lifestyle. Scientific research has proven that human beings need about 8 hours of sleep every day. Some people only need 6 hours a day and some people need as much as 10 hours a day. However, the average is 8 hours of sleep every day. These five tips will help you get the best sleep of your life.
-
Darkness
Make sure your room is fully dark. Light pollution is everywhere now and it is a major obstacle to a good sleep. Personally, my room is fully dark and I get a very good sleep. Full darkness will help your body produce the hormones it needs to repair your muscles and keep your immune system healthy.
-
Noise
Noise pollution disturbs your sleep. Therefore, make sure to keep noise down around your bedroom. Background noise such as a fan is good. It stops you from focusing on outside noises and brings you in a deep sleep.
-
Food
Don’t eat a big meal before going to bed. You want to eat very lightly or not at all before going to bed. Avoid sugar, meat, or fat. The best option is to eat 3 or 4 hours before going to bed.
-
Water
Don’t drink a lot of water before going to bed because you will spend all night going to the bathroom. Drink water all day long and stop drinking 3 or 4 hours before going to bed. Avoid coffee or energy drinks just before going to bed because they will keep you awake all night long.
-
Temperature
Make sure your room is cold and that you have blankets in your bed. Cold temperature will help you have a good sleep since your body temperature naturally goes down at night time. Avoid opening your windows because of the street noise.
These five techniques can really help you improve the quality of your sleep. All five techniques are very important and can make a huge difference in your sleep. If you have any question, don’t hesitate to ask them on the forum.
