How Does Hydrocodone work?

Hydrocodone works on the opoid receptors in the brain blockin gpain. Long term use of this medication cause dependancy. By working on the opiate receptors, long term, hydrocodone reduces the body’s ability to produce the natural endorphins that reduce pain. This is what cause addiction. The body can not effectively reduce pain on its own, thereby actually causes a person to suffer from more pain without using the drugs.

However, once a person does stop taking the hydrocodone, the brain will begin to regulate pain on its own

The High From Hydrocodone

Side-effects of hydrocodone/paracetamol are most commonly upset stomach, nausea, and altered mental status (e.g., dizziness, light headedness). Other rarer side-effects include allergic reaction, seizures, clammy skin, paranoia, hallucinations, severe weakness, dizziness, hyperventilation, unconsciousness, jaundice (yellowing of eyes or skin), unusual fatigue, bleeding, bruising, stomach pain,[3] constipation, dry mouth, decreased appetite, muscle twitches, sweating, hot flashes, itching, tinnitus, hearing loss, decreased urination and altered sex drive. Vicodin also has depressant effects on the central nervous system, which may cause irritability. However, some of the less mundane effects can be desirable effects that are sought after by some. Those effects include euphoria and drowsiness, as well as slowing of the pulse. (Wikipedia)

Long term use of Hydrocodone is addictive and can become a life long issue. There are other drugs that are suppose to reduce or eliminate dependance of opiate drugs such as Hydrocone but they are usually a life long prescription. (view my next article about Suboxen)

  6. Very, very good. I had to take one vicodin when I dislocated my elbow at miniature gold. It kept me up until 9 the next morning! I hated it and I had just as much pain the next day. In fact that happened at the end of last August and it is still swelling.

  7. Abuse using medication is at an all time high. Great review of this substance…
