Improve Your Health with Tea

Research shows that tea is great for your health in so many ways: Preventing cancer, arthritis and even aiding in weight loss.

Honeysuckle, blueberry, caramel – believe it or not, these are just a few of the new tea flavors. Twice as many people are now drinking tea than five years ago. Almost all of these unique blends of tea can be found in most supermarkets today.

Different Types of Tea

  1. White tea – This is the least processed of any tea and has a light, sweet taste. It also has the lowest amount of caffeine and the highest antioxidant properties

  2. Green tea – This tea has a distinctive “grassy” taste. It is also high in good for you antioxidants
  3. Oolong tea – This is a traditional Chinese tea and tastes similar to green tea, but slightly stronger. It also helps aid in digestion
  4. Black tea – This is the most popular of the teas. It is the highest in caffeine. It has antioxidant properties, but not quite as many as the others.

How To Brew The Best Cup Of Hot Tea

  • Using the right temperature – Bring water to a boil for black or herb tea to extract the flavor. For green tea, water should be hot, but not boiling.

  • Covering your cup – Brewing tea by the cup? Use the saucer to cover the cup to retain the heat
  • Watching the clock – Brew 3-5 minutes for green and black teas, 4-6 minutes for herb teas, and 6 minutes for other teas.

Drinking warm tea is an acquired taste, but is worth it with all of the benefits that drinking tea will have on your health.
