Jamming Joints

The truth about cartilage damage prevention

NSAIDs [nonsteroidal anti-inflamatory drugs, like asprin, ibuprofen, and naprxoxen] are fine for short-term use, as recommended by a doctor. But they do little to repair or rebuild cartilage. In fact, long-term NSAID use could work against you: evidence suggests taht the usual NSAIDs–like Bextra–are now the primary prescription choice, but over-the-counter varieties work, though aspirin should probably be your last choice. Be warned that NSAIDs have serious side effects taht become more likily to occur with continued use. And using NSAIDs can limit muscles’ capacity to synthesize protein.

In any cast, no matter what pain reliever you choose, it’s only going to reat the symptoms and not their cause, which is why supplements containing glucosamine and chondroitin are better. They are better at preventing joint pain without the potention side effects. Look for products that contain both, as they work better together. Glucosamine provides basic building blocks for joints, while chondroitin helps inhibit the destructive processes that occur in cartilage and joints. Look for s supplement wiht 1,500 mg glucosamine and 1,200 chondroitin.

If your joints are in bad shape, take the supplements and pain relievers. After a couple of weeks, you canlikely stop taking NSAIDs as the supplements begin to work. In fact, the longer glucosamine and chondroitin are used the better the results.
