Jones Soda New Drink
Jones Soda has recently launched a new drink called Jones GABA. It is an interesting drink.
College can be extremely stressful sometimes. Relationships, homework and planning for the future all dump stress into our lives. The busy college life sometimes makes it hard to focus on what needs to get done. Some students will cope by exercising, partying or even meditating. But now there may be an easier way to relax and find the focus to study.
This spring, Jones Soda Company is introducing a new tea-juice blend containing the amino acid, GABA. Jones GABA is the only functional beverage in the U.S. containing PharmaGABA, which studies have shown can improve mental focus and reduce stress.
As any psychology major knows, GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) is a key neurotransmitter that regulates brain functionality. Among other things, GABA is a natural calming agent.
PharmaGABA is a special form of naturally manufactured GABA. Studies in Japan have found that PharmaGABA increases the production of alpha brain waves, which greatens mental focus and awareness. Research has also found PharmaGABA can reduce beta brain waves that are associated with nervousness, hyperactivity and scattered thoughts. Additionally, PharmaGABA has shown the ability to reduce cortisol, which is known as the “stress hormone.”
There are no known side effects of PharmaGABA, and the Food and Drug Administration has recognized its safety. The effects of PharmaGABA do not differ by weight of the consumer, but are essentially the same for everyone.
“Jones GABA is a revolutionary, great-tasting beverage,” said Joth Ricci, chief operating officer of Jones Soda, in a statement. “It has a rare distinction in the functional beverage marketplace. Its benefits can be felt within five minutes and have been shown to last for hours. Jones GABA helps people feel more relaxed and focused, allowing them to perform at their peak.”
GABA is a highly popular ingredient of food and beverage products in Japan. According to an article in Japanese World cited by Jones Soda, sales of GABA-infused food and beverages reached approximately $122 million in 2006. GABA was introduced in Japan just two years earlier, in 2004. PharmaGABA is most popularly found in Japanese chocolate and coffee products to combat the effects of caffeine. It can also be found in water, sports drinks and even sausage. Due to the success of GABA products in Japan, the debut of Jones GABA is highly anticipated in the U.S.
Jones GABA will come in four flavors: Fuji Apple, Lemon Honey, Nectarine and Grapefruit. The 12-ounce cans contain 150 milligrams of PharmaGABA and retails for $2.99. Depending on the flavor, Jones GABA has 80 to 90 calories.
Jones GABA might also relieve some stress on the environment and farmers. It uses Fair Trade CertifiedTM Natural White or Black Tea from Brewed Tea Leaves. The Fair Trade label guarantees that social, environmental and economical standards were met in the production and trade of the product. Fair Trade is aimed to empower farmers by investing in their farms and protecting the environment.
Jones GABA is set to hit stores soon. Will it be able to help us stressed out students relax a little? If Jones GABA can help consumers focus, it may become a popular study buddy. It could also be a new drink choice for athletes looking for a way to calm nerves and focus. If you could use a little less anxiety in your life, you might want to try this new product and see if it will make your day a little easier.
