Keeping Ones Family Well
We are all surrounded by germs, but hand washing is proven to be the most effective way to avoid spreading germs.
Keeping those around us healthy is not easy at all, since germs are everywhere. Whether your touching the bottom of you handbag, or your briefcase, especially since we all tend to put these items on the floor, waiting for the train, or in a restaurant, we all have a bad habit of putting these things on the floor, where our dirty germ full shoes have passed through. No body realizes that cell phone are handled so many times in any given day, collects just as much germs, because they are handle by our hands, which touch everything. We touch door knobs, counter tops, seats on the train, and the worse has to be the banisters in train stations, all these areas are loaded with germs, spores, and filth, that usually never gets wiped away.
One way to keep well is to remember to always wash you hands, especially after sneezing, or shaking someone’s hand; as impolite as this may sound, it is true. Just excuse yourself, and wash your hands. If your are in a party atmosphere, and your shaking hands constantly, do yourself a favor, and keep your hands away from your face. Since by touching your eyes, nose or mouth can very easily transmit the germs right into your system.
Your hands your, cell phone, as well as you home telephone should be wiped down on a regular basics, because of the germs they carry. That hand you just shook, where has it been, and what has it touched, a banister, the counter at the deli, even the bottom of the water bottle you purchase, was probably on the floor some place.
A suggestion when you sneeze or cough, do so in the crease of your elbow, so you can actually cut down on the germs that are received and exchanged from hand to hand. Traveling to and from work is a walk in the jungle of germs, holding the pole on the train, that thousand touch weekly, when do you think the last time that was “disinfected”; probably never.
Think about it, how many times a day do you actually wash your hands, if you don’t wash you hands at least ten times a day, you’re leaving yourself open for a “germ party”; which for the most part, your immune system can handle. Then the day comes, your run down, exhausted, overstressed or over worked, and “bam” the germs can now make their attack. They attack you when you are most vulnerable; which is why it is so hard to fight back. How about your house telephone if you have kids and friends and they are over all the time, then there are millions of germs, invading your home. They are probably overgrowing from your telephone to the walls, to the counters, and banisters. It just may be the right time to purchase some Clorox wipes, or Lysol wipes and wipe down your cell phone, the counter tops, your computers; not only at home but at work as well. You can also make a solution using 1:10 ratio of water to Clorox to make your own disinfectant; but remember to make the mixture when your going to use it, after twenty four hours it loses it disinfecting properties.

How often do you wash your hands after using the bathroom? All the time? OK, great and after you have washed your hands, taking at least a good minute to wash, you grab a paper towel, and dry you hands. Then do you place the paper towel into the garbage? Well what many people do not realize is that the doorknob, is a major germ holder. Now think about all the people who did not wash their hands after using the facilities that go out that door, touching that same doorknob! ICK! It is recommend when you go to wash your hands, obtain the paper towel first, wash your hand thoroughly, dry you hands, turn off the water using the paper towel, and exit, using the paper towel to open the door, then discard the paper towel at the next available opportunity.
These are just a few ways to help keep the family healthier with so many germs out there, that mutant, and become serious, causing near death situation. Teaching children to wash their hands at an early age, and follow up with other cleaning habits, is a great place to start. “Keeping one well”.
