Long Drive Can Cause Skin Cancer

Are you a driver? Do you spend most of the time on the road? Then, you should be aware of the probability of getting skin cancer.

Those who spend lots of time driving on the road have to be well aware that you may have high risk of getting skin cancer. A recent medical report revealed that long drive leads to overexpose to sunlight. The skins overexpose to sunlight include portions of head, neck, arms and hands. These skin portions are regarded as the highest probability to get skin cancer. If the driver is driving his or her car with the car window opened widely or down, the chances to get skin cancers can even be very high.

The Medical Department of American Saint Louis University had carried out a research on 898 skin cancer patients. 595 of them are males and the rest are females. Their results show that the lumps’ position of the patients is closely associated with long drive on the road. As they are overexposure to the sunlight, their lumps are mostly located on the left side of their bodies.

The researches from the university added that most of the skin cancer patients had been long driving on the road. The formation of the lumps is due to overexposure to sunlight for longer hours. The doctor at the university further remarked that the left body of the long drives drivers has high risk of developing chronic skin cancer.

Most cars nowadays, are equipped with the windshield that can filter short wave and long wave of UVA and medium wave of UVB, but the ability for the side windows to filter these waves are still dissatisfied. Thus, drivers can use the slightly dark glasses for the side windows. Another alternative is putting a layer of UV-block material, so that this can help to lower down the risk of getting skin cancer.
