Meat Eaters Vs. Vegetarians

What is the difference?

What is the difference between a vegetarian and a meat eater? There are some drastic differences between the two. First a meat eater has a fifty percent higher chance of dying of a heart attack or stroke. Vegetarians also have half the risk of getting cancer compared to meat eaters. In a recent test scientists found that there is more bacteria on a piece of store bought chicken then on a toilet seat. The major difference is animals have much shorter intestines than humans do. Because of this a animal is able to burn out what it eats much faster than a human why is that? A human has a much longer intestine so everything we eat stays in our bodies longer.http://www.bloggersbliss.com

Because of that when you eat a steak it sits in your body and rots. Meat sits in your intestines for seven years.

I have been a vegetarian for seven years and I probably still have meat in my body. I’m not vegetarian because Iam a animal activist. I’m a vegetarian because of the crap they are injecting into our food supply. Everyone just wants to ignore all the recalls recently on beef. Ask yourself how many recalls have there been on beef in the past year.

  1. Sounds great but I get confused when you wrote this “Iam not vegetarian because Iam a animal activist. Iam a vegetarian because of the crap they are injecting into our food supply.”

  2. I am making a large attempt to become a vegan. It is very hard & I know there are different degrees of vegetarians – but I feel like if I am going to become one its all or nothing.

  3. I just had the best steak last night. What are your sources on the heart attack and stroke numbers?
I’m not necessarily denying that it’s true, I just want to know where you are getting your information. Yea, that’s why a person doesn’t eat raw chicken. The cooking takes out the bacteria.

  4. In actually fact, meat eaters aren’t always unhealthy. As long as you stick with lean meat and poultry and don’t deep fry it, it’s actually incredibly healthy. You can’t equate someone who eats a lot of lean meat (such as a bodybuilder) with someone who eats a lot of PROCESSED meat (such as a fan of Maccy D’s) and call them the same because they’re completely different.

And as for meat sitting inside your intestine rotting for seven years, that IS a lot of bs. I’ll try to find some links later (now on my way to the gym lol), but in general eating a diet high in processed foods will cause food to sit inside your intestines, not one high in meat. :)

  5. I have just become a vegetarian for health benefits. Many of my co-workers have become spiteful of my food intake. As you can read, all the meat eaters who have answered to this site have answered very negatively. It really pisses me off when people have a hate or is it envy to us vegetarians. To all meat eaters if you are so happy with yourselves, then why do you make it a big deal for us to choose to not eat meat? It is my choice to eat what I want and if you do not like it well too bad. Anyway, you are what you eat, right? (DEAD MEAT)

  6. I totally agree with what you are saying. My girlfriend and I are both vegans and we have less health problems than our family’s. The reason i became vegetarian is because of the stuff they put into the meat when they process it. I’d rather not put that stuff into my body. But on the other hand my girlfriend became a vegetarian because of the animal cruelty when they slaughter them. we both believe that they should not be slaughtered because animals have feelings too. They might not be the feelings we feel but they have a nervous system and they can still feel what happens to them. Therefore that is why I agree with what you are saying and the message you are trying to convey.

  7. I don’t understand how post #5 or J, could say that meat-eaters are are making a big deal about the current vegetarian and vegan fad. Hey J, ever heard of PETA, or HSUS, or VRG. Well if you haven’t than I’ll educate you; they are all vegan and vegetarian activist groups, or groups of people that are so bored that they devote their lives to trying to stop people from eating what they want. The only negative post I see is yours so try again. Let’s see how many meat-eating activist groups you can name.

  8. Thanks for info, great advice. I recently became a vegetarian after hearing and seeing for myself how abusive and unhealthy it is.

  9. in response to J I’m a not a vegan. as for meat eaters hating you, it the person not his diet. i have a coworker who is a vegan. and he does not like me for my diet. don’t judge all by the actions of one.

  10. OMG, it stays in your body for 7 years?! HAHAHAHAHA!! How much crap can you vegetarians come up with?! lol

If you’ll excuse me now, I’m going to go eat a big, juicy steak for lunch. :)

  11. Apart from moral reasons (which makes us no diff from animals for wanting to eat the flesh of another animal only to satisfy our tastebuds despite healthier options) it is plain insanity to want to eat meat. It is more of a habit than it is about taste. There are so many tasty alternatives vegetarian options you can use as a substitute for meat. But it is more of a mental block than it is about anything else. As humans if we cannot display self control and have mind over body, then how can we claim to be any different from animals? For every benefit that meat offers there is an equally healthy veg alternative, so how can you NOT want to try it? Are you not able to satisfy your urge to eat meat when there is a bird-flu or mad cow disease? Tell yourself that when you feel like going for a meat alternative.

I’ve had a lotta ppl argue with me about trees/plants having life too(which they do) and how it is bad to kill them for food (which is such a lame argument for plant vs meat) but then plants can re-generate, can animals? can you? It is so sad to see how so many of your everyday products use animal derivatives, worse by harming or hurting them. How can anyone with blood flowing in their body not feel for a Musk Deer, yes the musk is derived by whipping the genitals of a musk deer, does that make you want to use it?

Human being are creatures of habit. It is the easiest for us to control our senses and mind and not let our body control us. I think we are not cannibals just bec we live in a society where a law governs us and says it is wrong to kill humans, if not how different are animals? Do they not bleed? Do they not have feelings? Are they not intelligent? It makes me feel so stupid to talk to educated people about not eating meat when all the facts about being vegetarian are so popular and so beneficial. But then education does not guarantee common sense so it becomes important to give people a billion reasons to turn vegetarian when all you need is ONE!
Thanks guy for your moral support and yes animals deserve to live!

  12. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Meat stays in your intestines for 7 YEARS? You’d be DEAD! How much crap can you people come up with?!

  13. Apart from moral reasons it is plain insanity not to eat meat. It is more of a phobia than it is about taste. There are so many tasty alternative meat options you can use as substitutes for vegetables. But it’s more of a mental block than anything else. As humans if we cannot overcome our own preconceptions and eat healthy food which is good for us, then how can we claim to be any different from animals? For every benefit that vegetables offer there is an equally healthy meat alternative, so how can you NOT want to try it? Aren’t you worried about aphids, crop infestations, and root rot?

Apparently plants can regenerate, so that’s more acceptable than eating animals. Well, actually, animals can ‘regenerate’ too (in exactly the same way that plants do) by an ancient technique known as reproduction.

Can’t you see how every argument you make for vegetarianism could also be used in favour of a meat-based diet? The simple fact is that we are biologically set up to eat both vegetables AND meat, but there are ways of avoiding meat if you wish to do so. If you do wish to do so, that’s fine: but making a choice about your own lifestyle does not and can never give you the right to tell other people how to live. As a very simplistic example, I live in the UK where the gun laws are much tighter than they are in the US, but I don’t have the right to tell a US citizen that they can’t bear arms (and they, equally, don’t have the right to tell me that I should). There’s nothing ethically or morally wrong about eating animals (and don’t even begin to pretend that there is: any argument would have to get around the impossibility of distinguishing between levels of life by allowing for plant eating), so it is simply a personal decision. Make your own decision and allow other people to make theirs.

  15. yeh but i think vegetarians r taking it wayyy to far

  16. meat is part of our everyday life so it doesnt matter if we eat meat or not we all need iron intake or a suppliment if we dont it leads to kidney faliure and pooor health.

  17. watch the documentary “earthlings” ………end of story….. for all of you fat gluttonous meat eating waste of skin

  18. I know no body has posted to this for a long time…I just want to say this. I have been vegetarian since August 25th, 2009 and its about one week now…and already in one week my digestion has DRASTICALLY improved. Anyone ever wonder why you have diarrhea after you eat high-fatty animal foods why you sometimes have urgent bathroom breaks? Its not meant to be eaten….Look at our youth today who are developing MUCH sooner than my generation, due to hormones in our food!!!! Milk is enemy’s of many people those sensitive to lactose!!! Wonder why? Its not meant for us!…Fish???? Oh yeah its supposed to be healthy right??? Well think again! Many fish contain toxins like mercury, cadmium and lead, some of which can triple the normal level after just one serving for a short period of time! These are just some facts I have learned in just the past little while…If you’re thinking about becoming veg (in any form!)….go for it. Yes, people will think you are crazy…yes, they poke fun, and yes it is an inconvenience especially when you go out to eat….but we are so accustomed as a society to having everything immediately for instant gratification….take the time…save a life. My personal affirmation is:
“I will NOT eat anything that had a face….I will not eat anything that stops a beating heart!”

  19. I wouldn’t do good on a vegitarian diet, i only like about 5 different vegetables and most with butter and they use milk to make that (i’m thinking thats out of a vegetarian diet although i dont know why nothing died to get milk) and breads and pasta would give me a carb overload… guess i gotta keep some meats in the diet. although its a nice thought to be healthier just cant stand tofu. If anyone can suggest something that tastes better then tofu but has the protien that the vegetarian diet lacks I am open minded and will try it. As for vegetarians that hate me for being a meat eater, well I don’t hate you for being a vegetarian maybe eating meat helps me emotionally enough to not hate someone for thier personal choices.

  20. You know that cow I just ate for dinner? It was a Vegetarian and looked what happened to it…just sayin.

  21. You know that cow I just ate for dinner? It was a Vegetarian and looked what happened to it…just sayin.

  22. I seriously doubt meat stays in your gut for 7 years. In fact, that’s a load of crap. I’m 17 and I’ve been eating meat (As well as a diet of fruit, veggies, the processed chemicals in take-out and all of that good stuff) for as long as I remember, and I’m pretty sure that I’d know by now if something had stayed in my stomach that long – for the simple fact that if a hunk of meat had stayed in my for that long it would have decayed and caused me a serious illness. As a matter of fact, I haven’t thrown up or had diarrhea since I was 14 (Which rotten meat certianly would have induced – if it had decayed in my intestine.)

And in response to Jessica – What gave you the impression that ALL animals who are slaughtered for meat are done so cruely? Sure, sucks to be a musk deer, and yes, there have been hundreds of cases of horrid slaughterhouses all around the world, but you can’t judge all of them by those few examples.
In Australia (I am Australian and I don’t know any other country’s laws, sorry) there are rules and regulations that must be considered when building a slaughterhouse, and these rules go on for 14 pages. And the actual law for killing the animals is also very strict – the animals are stunned (I’ve been stunned by accident before, and it only hurts when you wake up) and then they are killed.

  23. meat is the best yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh MEAT

  24. vegies are gay lol

  25. I just started being a vegetarian about 4 months ago and it’s not all that. I don’t know why they think it’s so great because it’s not at all. You don’t get enough vitamins, you lose weight and look like a skeleton, you don’t feel full, etc. It makes you puke sometimes because the food tastes fake and the Turkey burgers are disgusting. It tastes so artifical!! eww! how can you vegelovers like that stuff?!! :( meat fills you up and it tastes good with the right blends of stuff. That’s why I’m going back to being one again. I’m tired of that stupid VEGAN bs.! That sux.

  26. Meatloverz have the best foodz..MMMMMM…YUMMY, JUICY STEAK from Applebee\’s..:D i bet u wish u could have sum.? well too bad, go eat sum TOFU..ew that stuff iz sooooo nasty..have fun puking..LMAO

  27. yall just need to shut up. if you want to be a vegetarian thats YOUR choice! if you like that meattt eat it!

  28. i totaly awesome

  29. Jessica, I agree 100% with everything you say… It really bothers me how insensitive people are but unfortunately there is nothing we can do about anybody’s karma… They will pay for it though…

  30. And it is NOT a matter of personal choice. Its murder!

  31. There is no point in arguing with meat eaters. They are ignorant of the facts. Yes they can have their OPINIONS but unless they actually try (and stick to) a vegetarian diet for at least a year, they really have no clue of the benefits of cutting meat.

I didn’t see anyone mention that vegetarianism is a way to reverse the effects of diabetes and heart disease.

I think most meat eaters are just set in there way, all there lives they eat meat and they are told it’s good for them. Sure lean meats can be better for you, but they are still pumped with chemicals, or fed garbage that gets to you, and yes, it does rot in your stomach. I’m not sure if it is seven years but I know it takes at least a week.

To Ema82: people who are new to vegetarianism often don’t realize the way they are changing there food intake. You think you can cut out meat and live off everything you used to have with meat and not replace it. That is the reason of your complaints. Just because you aren’t able to create a balanced diet it doesn’t mean no one can.

I guess this post is more out of annoyance. Like I said meat-eaters are ignorant because they really do not know.

So to all the veggies out there like me, try to keep your cool when meat-eaters try to push there views on you. Once they die of a meat indulged illness, we can dance on there grave! (and then plant a nice veggie garden over top) :)

  32. OK. WOW. Seriously some of you people really need to get a life. Yes meat is healthy. Maybe not to an excess, or fried. However, if you want to complain about commercial meat being processed and stuff, then try deer meat. Or any wild game for that matter. My family has lived on nothing pretty well other than wild unprocessed game for as long as i can remember. Wild animals dont get fed that fake crap. So you know what, all you vegans and animal rights freaks, can kiss my country, eat-all-wild-game ass!!!!

  33. Yeah ok you guys, some meat is good so is bad, im a meat eater but i believe in vegerarianism, it works, u guys just dont like it because your so used to meat, if u had started off with no meat, u wouldnt like meat at all

  34. Why does everybody here seem to think EVERYBODY should believe what they do? Meat eaters are like ITS SO WRONG TO BE VEGGIE! and veggies are like ITS SO WRONG TO EAT MEAT!
are we not all aloud our own opinion?
i am a vegetarian but, other people can eat what they want!
&neither is really healthier if you eat a balanced diet.
vegetarians are healthier than meat eaters if the meat eater is eating junk and fried food, but a vegetarian living off junk food and pasta is just as unhealthy.
either diet can be healthy if you are eating the right things.

  35. The original post/article/comment is hilarious! I really did laugh out loud – and I’m not even a vegetablearian!!

“Meat sits in your intestines for seven years.” I came here looking for actual information, not this kind of idiotic misinformation.

“…there is more bacteria on a piece of store bought chicken then on a toilet seat.” That’s the part that made me LOL. (This statement needs a few exclamation points, because it’s clearly GROUNDBREAKING NEWS!!!)

I am going to become a vegetarian, because I think it’s a better idea for me, and the environment. But I’d be happier if there were less foolishness associated with the whole concept.

  36. Seems to me, from the comments, the vegetarians get upset because killing animals is wrong and people should be veggies to be healthier.

The meat eaters get upset because they don’t like change and being told what to do..

Personally, I’m going to believe the vegetarians over the meat eaters because they are actually the ones doing it so know more. I agree with the post Leah made, meat eaters can say all they want but if they haven’t had a vegetarian diet how would they know?

and to the guy above, meat does rot in your stomach, its the only way your body can break it down to digest it.

Why is everyone so angry? It’s just an article.

  37. meateaters rock and plus plants and greens give off oxygen to the air which is what we need right now.

  38. I used to be a vegetarian, and truthfully, it just wasn’t for me. And when I found out all the REAL facts about the cost of being a vegetarian, it was a real turn off. As for all you hard core vegetarians…GOD, seriously, tone it down. This is part of the reason I stopped being a veggie, there is too much foolishness associated with being one. All you defensive loony veggies, you should try ENCOURAGING people to turn veg, instead of insulting them. Any who, you vegetarians provided the insults and facts that were only so convenient to your pointless arguments. Hmm…I’m actually getting kinda hungry, gonna go grab a a nice healthy dinner, which, does include yummy seasoned chicken. That’s right, chicken. Call me a murderer, blah blah. Mmmk? Yeah, buh byes. Enjoy your tofu, soybeans, tofurkey meals, and your plate of arrogance.

  39. Im a vegetarian, have been for about 4years, before that I was a prolific meat eater. I understand both sides of the argument. And its just silly, sure Id prefer if we had a less meat friendly society, but hey, we all need to accept another persons choice. Its their body, let them fill it with whatever they desire.

  40. Hillshire Farms, GO MEAT!!!!!!

  41. How old are you? Please grow up. What i and other people want to eat it up to us. But we can help out if someone is not too sure what they want. You are acting like a silly little child. You should be the one killing your meat, cleaning it and preparing it. But instead you sit back and wait for a lump of dead meat to land on your plate to shovel into your mouth. And hey, thats totally your choice. But personally i don’t agree with that. So no. I do not wish i could eat some and in fact you are very wrong, tofu is not the only thing we eat. Wow are you really that stupid? Have fun puking? You’ll be the one puking from meat infection or some disgusting thing from your rotting dead animal which you like to call food. Normally i don’t mind meat-eaters but its people like you that make me feel sick. Have fun murdering animals, and have fun with your bad karma you twat.

  42. Im a vegetarian im im never changing. But the thing is, i dont mind meat-eaters. Some of my family are, but they all eat good-meat, meat which has been looked after well. If only every meat was like this. But there are some idiots out there that like to torture innocent animals just to sell for some money to people that like to eat meat. All that i want is for this side of the meat business to disappear. I know its up them (the meat eaters) if they want ti eat meat. But some times they do not know what there eating, as in where it is from, how it was treated etc. There are reasons for them to be more careful when buying meat.

Like i said i don’t mind meat-eaters most of the time. But there are some real ignorant fools on here that make me ashamed of the world we live in. I hope they all get whats coming to them, and soon.

  43. Not every vegetarian. I agree this one is a bit..well.

Im a veggie and i try by best to keep my thoughts about meat and meat-eaters to myself. But certain people push me to speak what i feel and think.

But anyway yes. Some veggies do take it way too far, But not everyone.

  44. What? What are you trying to prove with this?

  45. Okay there are a lot of things i need to point out but i’ll try to keep it short and sweet. Firstly no. Producing meat creates much more co2 in the environment and ruins the climate more. Think of all the factories and packages etc. What we need is more trees. But there getting cut down to build slaughter houses and factories to produce or kill meat. Being a vegetarian actually means you are being better towards the environment. If others don’t agree, and i bet they would be meat-eaters, they are just being ignorant to the facts. Open your mind think beyond. You think being a vegetarian is worse for the environment than being a meat eater? Most veggies do not eat meat because they know that it produces less crap to add to the global warming worry. Do some research.

  46. wow. thats all i have to say about these comments
let people make their own choices and get on with it.
no need to fight and get all protective

  47. It is time for vegetarians and meat eaters to come together and share facts, figures, and viewpoints:vegetariansandmeateatersunite.com

  48. Amen to mely seriously best commnet on this page!

    This endless war should stop.
I mean vegitarians are not bad for there ideas, they have a good point.
Meat eaters on the other hand, most of the times grew up eating meat, selfish for a vegitarian to think he/she is better then a meat eater.
you all focus the main problem on eachother, but thats wrong.

Let’s say 6 billion people need meat, okay we already have 1 continent ( africa) which is neglected and probably meant to be exterminated.
Thus making the world population a bit smaller.

It’s about the world population, 6 billion people is simply to much to feed.
what if there will be another 3 billion people in maybe 100 years?
    Then we are screwed.

What about fast food restaurants like mac donalds.
Isnt it time to shut those off, since they only kill for money, not meat, they dont care about animals as long as they make money from them.

Final, eating meat is normal, why not have a steak every evening with your family.
It’s perfectly normal and healthy, so dont change that.
Change the way you think about meat.
Dont go to mac donalds when you have a nice meal waiting at home.
Same goes for any other fast food joint. I Mean there useless in anyway.

If humans can change there way about making money out of the meat industry, i’m sure we will all be fine.

But to be honest, 6 billion people, overpopulated world, corrupted world, I say we are screwed anyway, enjoy your life and do whatever you wanna do.

  49. Joey, the “war” on animals should stop. Humans do not “need” to eat corpses to survive or thrive healthfully. That is a fact, and there are several millions of healthy vegan/vegetarians to prove it.

Animal agriculture is destroying our environment, destroying human health, and is inflicting needless pain, suffering and death to countless animals.

Overpopulation of humans IS indeed a huge problem.
Using land to grow crops that are grown solely to feed animals that will then become “food” is a ludicrous and wasteful means of feeding humans. The amount of land that is used for animal agriculture could be utilized far more efficiently if it were used to grow crops to feed directly to humans.

Ethical vegetarians/vegans are far from being “selfish”. We can, and do look beyond our own selves. Most of us choose not to eat animals because it is unnecessary cruelty and death of animals and it is polluting our environment at a disturbingly rapid pace. No, we are not selfish. Most of us grew up eating meat. Most of us also fell for the propaganda thrown at us by the meat and dairy industries. We stop believing them when we became informed. The meat and dairy industries are not nutritionists, they are not concerned about human health. They are only concerned about making the almighty dollar….and they are raking in several billions of them.

With attitudes like yours “we’re screwed anyway”, I would say that you are the selfish one. I personally am trying to do all I can to hopefully make this Earth a cleaner and gentler place. I do it not just for me, but for future generations to come.
Have you ever thought about the mess that you and others who have the attitude that “we’re screwed anyway” are leaving for future generations? Are they going to have clean water, or any water for that matter? Will the rainforests disappear because people like you gave up? After hearing and reading views like yours and a few others on this thread, I realize just how I am far from selfish.

To mely: First of all, the bible was written by men, not some almighty being. Second of all, not everyone believes in a “God” or the bible, nor is there any scientific proof that there even is a God. IF, there is a God, there is no way that what is thought to be a compassionate, loving God, would condone the mass slaughter, and suffering of animals. ESPECIALLY when we have plentiful non animal foods available. Using some “invisible guy in the sky” fairytale is a ludicrous way to attempt to justify the deliberate, cruel, and UNNECESSARY pain, suffering and deaths of animals.

Nice to see that selfish people like you are doing all you can to make certain there is nothing left for future generations. Way to go. If only you spent more time actually doing something that may help future generations and less time complaining about the people that actually are doing something, there might be more hope for the future.

  50. some meat eaters really annoy me. i know vegetarians can sometimes shove it down your throat to not eat meat, it’s murder, and i as a vegetarian agree with this. however people commenting on this page and saying ‘mmm i think i’ll go have a nice big STEAK now, go puke up tofu etc etc’ are just ignorant, rude, dicks to be honest. can’t we be entitled to our own opinions?

  51. About your comment on how you’re a vegetarian because of the things they inject into our meat………..What on earth makes you think they don’t put anything into our vegetables?

  52. NOOOOOOOOOOO URRRRRRRRR NOTTTTTTTTT!!!! ur gay

  61. someone i am sorry btw i dont think we can be m8s right now EVER

  62. Eating meat is actually extrememly healthy. Many vegetarians use the say that “the meat processed” and “people who eat meat are at a higher risk of heart attacks.” This may be true with a large number of meat eaters, but it’s because they eat too much, and meat they do eat is either processed or raised (when the animal is alive) to be slaughtered. It doesn’t matter what you eat, if you get too much of it it could be harmful. This saying applies to almost everything we eat. We need balance. I personally think eating meat is healthy, but I have to choose what I eat with discretion. Most of the meats we buy at stores is malnutritioned. It’s taken from cows who are raised on oats and corns, and that is not at all healthy for the animal. They need to be raised organically. The animals need to be allowed to be raised naturally, have the ability to graze. They are much healthier. On the other hand, cows raised on a cattle farm are fed, not for nutrition purposes or health reasons, but to gain wieght; alot of it. The body is magnificent and pretty resilient but it needs to be taken care of. We need to eat well and in the proper proportions. Many people make meat a large part of their diet; so, therefore, they consume alot of malnourished meats and saturated fats. Now, contrary to what many people believe, some saturated fats are actually good for you. If I’m not mistaken it’s actually a necessary part of a healthy diet. If you’re having doubts, checks out “The Weston A. Price Foundation.” They have an article called “Principles of a Healthy Diet” that is quite educational. I would recommend reading it. The author is quite unbiased against vegetarians and in fact was a vegan for a few years. His research is based on obeservations he’s made and facts known about food. Good luck :)

  63. I can’t believe the animosity towards vegetarians on this thread? It seems very barbaric and insolent but maybe this is just how some people are!
Something else which seems interesting is the lack of any thought in anything these ‘meat eaters’ are saying, its just agression towards something they
Do not understand, what’s clear is that the vegan/vegetarians seems to be very switched on to where there food comes from, whereas meat eaters do
Not, possbily because they really no they are fighting a losing battle! Even if one does not care for the animals or believe that the meat stays in your system
For years (which it will do) then perhaps look at some of the more thought-provoking health benefits of removing meat (and also dairy and egg) from your diet.
Such as significant reductions in the risks of heart attacks or strokes. As for protein haha, you really do know nothing, a meat diet will give the body far far to
Much protein, which is very bad for the human body, this talk of little protein is as bad as sitting close to the tv, it does nothing.
Finally if you care to research how much food and land is wasted raising livestock just to slaughter it, where as that could food could feed the hungry and the land
Could grow more food for the hungry.
So maybe read up before you just insult the more educated eaters out there and if nothing I have said sinks in, then how about every hour in the USA,
660,000 animals are slaughtered! Meat is Murder!

  64. Hi, everyone, I have been reading this thread with much interest. I eat meat, but try my best to have it sourced from a quality place, this will be a lot easier when I am not a student and can afford the high quality meat from small scale breeders and slaughterhouses which do not practice the cruelty which some (but not all) of the larger producers do. They are normally raised and killed on the farm they are born on and you can have a tour round to see all stages of where your meat has come from.

Anyway I would like to reduce the amount of meat that I am eating, mostly for some health benefits but also because at the moment I cannot afford the quality of meat I want to be eating. The problem is I am very into fitness and my physique, not to a body-building standard but still a fair amount of muscle, and if I become a semi-vegetrian I am worried that I won’t be able to get the amount of protein I need, because despite what some people say on here it is very important and stops you gaining weight as it fills you up a lot more, preventing you from eating excessive amounts of carbs, not to mention I will lose muscle at an alarming rate.

So I’m after any advice that will help me to live a vegetarian diet whilst still getting the amount of protein I eat now. As a guidline if you want to gain muscle you should be eating a gram of protein for every pound you weigh. Bare in mind I would have to stop most protein supplements as they contain ingredients sourced fro animals.

  65. What a ridiculous discussion. To say that meat is murder means that all the vegetarians and vegans out there are trying to decide which living things should live and which should die. Vegetables and plants are living things too. So by that logic, veggies are murder as well. You see why that argument is crap? As for meat sitting in the intestine and rotting for 7 years, that argument stinks about as much as most of the people I see shopping in the health food aisle at the grocery store. If that’s the case, I should have over 1,000 pounds of meat still in my stomach from the countless deer, elk, antelope and duck I’ve eaten during those years. The simple fact is that mankind has eaten meat for thousands of years, as well as vegetables. Only when man got too lazy or unable to hunt for their own food did supermarkets, butchers and slaughterhouses come about. And with these businesses came greed and growth hormones and antibiotics and nasty feedlots, designed to produce more meat, not better meat. I would agree that eating meat from the store is probably not that good for you, nor is eating vegetables from the store that were genetically modified and grown with fertilizer and pesticides. But I hunt all my meat, fair chase, butcher and process it myself, and see absolutely no problem, healthwise or in terms of ethics, with hunting and killing wild animals for food. It’s a personal choice, and one that all people should make for themselves. But when all you vegetarians start saying that meat is murder and veggie is the way to go, that argument is unfounded. That is like saying that one form of life (animals) is more important than another (plants), so it’s OK to eat one and not the other. That’s kind of like Hitler’s logic when he decided it was OK to kill the jews because they were, in his mind, a lower life form. Everyone and everything in this world is food for another living organism, whether it be plants feeding on dirt, a deer eating grass, a human eating a deer, or bacteria eating human bodies. To all you vegetarians, enjoy your tofu (which is processed in a factory under who knows what conditions), and let us meat eaters enjoy our meat.

  66. I don’t get why you guys are all arguing really why cant we just eat whatever we want without people going against the vegans. or meat-eaters i know i sound like a hippie but its true.

  67. This is to Leah. when you said “Once they die of a meat indulged illness, we can dance on there grave! (and then plant a nice veggie garden over top)” You went way to far with this! Who cares if your a vegetarian or a meat eater, These are people and they make their own choices. Making fun of someones family member dieing makes me sick and you are so cold hearted!

  68. meat eaters: read this http://michaelbluejay.com/veg/natural.html

There’s ONLY ONE right, healthy, green, historically accurate perspective in in this “debate” so read, learn, and change.

After reading, you can say (just like smokers do) “yes, I should change but I can’t” or “I know it’s right but it’s too hard”. But denying vegetarianism as a proper lifestyle is ignorant.

MEAT EATERS…”What did the five fingers say to the face…SLAP!” lol.

  69. Yay, another typical war on what to eat : Veggies vs. Meat. First off, let me get this out the way, BOTH OF YOU NEED TO GROW UP!!! There are good things and bad things about both sides of the balance here. Firstly veggies, yeah you can try and get meat eaters to change their ways, but if by some chance they do, then what are you gonna do with the over-populating animals that will increase in size, and eventually eat all the veggie productions??? Hence the control of population by slaughterhouses. Now I will admit that I am a meat eater myself and agree that animal cruelty is a bad thing, but I aint about to let a bunch of animals cause me to starve to death just cause they are eating all of our produce!!! Now as for meat eaters, you guys should consider an alternative from factory plumped, over- medicated, additive induced, stressed meat. I myself am a hunter and will tell you that hunting for my meat taste a hell of a lot better than that store bought crap. Yeah I know you veggie eaters are gonna say that I am being cruel to the animals I hunt, sorry to disappoint you, but the ones I hunt are one shot one kill. They don’t suffer, and if I happen to shoot one and he/she is still alive, I won’t allow them to suffer by waiting them out, I put them out so they wouldn’t have to feel the pain and suffering any longer than they should. But the benefit if harvesting a natural stress-free, medicated free, additive free meat is : it is much healthier than the store bought crap. And as for the PETA, that organization is a joke. They are listening to a woman that wants attention and is getting people who follow her to do illegal things. Yeah they wanna save animals from cruelty, but to change the world into nothing, but vegetarians isn’t gonna happen. Oh and another thing about her, I love how she says no one can own a pet cause that is slavery and is consider cruelty. So saying that, even though you veggies aren’t eating meat, if you own a pet you’re being cruel to animals as well.

And as for whoever posted about meat rotting in the intestines for 7 years, you need to go back to school and learn human health. If that was a fact, guess what, all meat eaters would probably be dead after 6 months. Why? Cause if it were true, the meat would build up and form a plug and will stop all food matter from passing through our bodies. And sad to say it would happen to vegetarians too cause not all 100% of the food is dissolved.

  71. L. Vidmar WROTE on Oct 25, 2008: “I just had the best [WRONG] steak last night. =FALSE.

This User is already debunked even before he got his 1st sentence out.

That Steak was flavored by Plants. What he is desiring is the taste of the plants, not meat. In fact, meat almost unequivocally has to BE flavored by plants first or even Meat Eaters won’t even eat it! And nearly all mainstream people would find the actual natural taste of meat Disgusting, and would vomit if it was given to them on a plate at the dinner table.

That steak was seasoned! Seasoned with pepper, probably grilled on a barbeque, maybe even marinated, it was salted, and people have to have all kinds of things like sauces, spices, seasonings, added to it, A-1 steak sauce, and some meat-heads even eat it with ketchup!

Guess what, ALL of those are either minerals or PLANTS! And, it had to be COOKED before it was even edible! It’s plants that make meat taste good. The natural state of meat tastes AWFUL! The natural state of steak meat is RAW uncooked soaked with blood which tastes of metallic iron, and COLD. That is the actual natural state of meat: RAW. It needs to be cooked before most any mainstream person can even stand to eat it! Usually BARBEQUED! This is what meat-eaters “rave” about. BBQ. Let’s have a Barbeque! Well, guess what meat-eaters, every single time you go around bragging that you “Love” a barbeque, you are proving meat tastes horrible, because those Barbeque charcoals that are used, to fix the flavor of your meat came from guess what…PLANTS! Charcoal briquettes are made out of charcoal that came from WOOD! Wood comes from trees, einstein, and a tree is a plant! So if you EVER see any meat-eater going around boasting “ooh, yum yum, barbequed steak, yum…” that meat-eater just admitted that meat alone is awful and needed to be made to taste great by him using PLANTS!

Barbeque Sauce…comes from plants. Again, vegetarian. Meat eaters need to put salt & pepper on their steaks and meat. Salt is a mineral, pepper is once again, a Plant! Vegetarians win again. Meat tastes horrible without the use of seasonings and plants. Marinaded meat. Marinade is once again from plants! Yet another case showing meat owes nearly all its flavor once again to Plants. Vegetarians chalk up another taste win.

All of the best tastes in the world come from plants. Not meat. A-1 steak sauce contains plants. Ketchup. Made from plants. Hickory Smoked blah blah blah, once again all the best flavors meat eaters brag about, are from plants. Pepperoni. That is meat that had to be ground up, and treated with seasonings, and spices. Spices and seasonings, are once again, plants. Hamburgers are ground up meat and ALL hamburgers have onion, garlic, and other spices that need to be put in it, and that is what people taste and the smarter ones know that all the best taste is coming from plants, the dumber people erroneously think it was only meat in that patty, not understanding that a huge portion of that ‘meat patty’ is wheat, corn, grains, seasonings, spices, and plants! All needed for that thing to even be edible.

To see what the actual natural taste and flavor of meat is, in its natural state, you would need to bite a piece off the face or side of an animal, raw, with all the hemorrhaging, and lymph node fluid spurting into your mouth. That is the actual, natural, real taste of meat. Mushy flappy pieces of floppy meat in your mouth, all stringy and soft like chewing on a wet dish sponge but soaked in glue-like coagulating blood. That cold metallic tinge on your tongue like that taste you get on the side of your tongue or in the back of your mouth if you ever accidentally cut your finger and made the mistake of putting your cut in your mouth and got that metallic blood taste in your throat that is hard to get rid of.

The ACTUAL true taste of meat is a flat floppy piece of uncooked female hormone soaked raw piece of skin with lymph juice seeping out of it, like when you get a scrape on your leg, and that fluid starts coming out of it before it turns into a scab, that’s what that juice is, in the meat-eaters “big juicy steak”.

(Note that is the phrase they always parrot. These are the same words always used by meat eaters who simply repeat ‘big’ ‘juicy’, like a little meat-headed parrot. It always has to be Big. Can’t be normal or Jumbo, or Great, always the word Big, followed by “juicy”, which they are talking about drinking that scab fluid, blood plasma fluid, and that gross brown stuff like you see that wells up in the corner pouch of those yellow styrofoam meat packages that they have in the supermarket, with the plastic wrap over it. You know the one. That juice that leaked out of the meat in that foam package and is now dancing around from corner to corner underneath the plastic, all collecting in the corner of those yellow or blue foamcore packages, they drink that! It’s a combination of germs, some dead blood cells, lymph node fluid, and blood plasma that seeped out of the dead tissues on that styrofoam slab in there, much like why there are drains on an autopsy table in a morgue. But it always has to be regurgitated like that, with those exact words, “Big Juicy” before steak, you watch, it’s like a taught Parrot would do. Braaaawk! big juicy steak, big juicey steak, Braaawk!”

But hey, let’s just play along for an instant, we already know meat eaters are debunked. The true actual taste of meat would be if it were Raw, uncooked, and soaked with lymph juice, cold. (By the way, plants are nearly always great in their natural state! Mmmm. Fresh apples! right off the tree. Peaches. Pears. Plums. Oranges. Carrots. Raspberries, Blueberries! Vanilla, thousands of fruits and vegetables, delicious RAW! No cooking needed. No seasoning needed. In fact, there is even a plant Raw food diet! Not only is it delicious, but one can even become MORE healthy on a plant based raw food diet and live LONGER!) Can’t say that for eating Raw meat only diet. First of all, you’d throw up. Next, the natural color of meat is GREY! Not red. You don’t know it, but meat is injected with chemicals and Dyes. That’s why it is red in the package. Look it up. The real actual color of raw meat steaks is grey. It’s not red meat, its more properly called Gray meat. Same like a corpse, you know what happens to meat after its dead. Thats what color it is after its been dead. Not red. Anyway, if you got that far, unlike a raw vegetarian diet which actually makes you healthier, you’d soon be killed on a Raw meat only diet due to the bacteria. Lysteria. Scabies. Trichinella parasitic worms. Tapeworm eggs. Nematodes. Pinworms. Prions. Brucellosis. Footpad Necrosis. it’s all in there for ya meat-eater, a whole zoo of worms and meat parasite eggcysts, a mouthful of bacteria, tapeworm proglottids, yum.

But ok, you’re already debunked, meat eater, but let’s even GIVE you the ability to cook it. Still nasty. To obtain what the natural taste of a piece of meat is, aside from any improvements due to the awesome taste of plants, or seasonings, the actual taste of meat would be if you threw a lump of meat into a pot of water and boiled it! Gross. Big lump of tasteless rubber. Or what it must be like to eat a piece of an old mop. On the otherhand, if you boiled vegetables in a pot, they taste delicious! Yumm! In fact, that’s why you need vegetables to improve and correct the taste of meat in soup! Steamed vegetables…awesome! Delicious. So once again, true taste of meat: boiled piece of mop. Meat tastes Horrible.

All of the best flavors in the world, come from spices, seasonings, spicy oregano, rich tomato sauces, garlic, hot peppers, jalapenos, mesquite barbeque coals, hickory smoke flavor, pepper, cinnamon, vanilla, chocoloate, rich cup of coffee, spice tea, cloves, turmeric, nutmeg, paprika, allspice, italian seasoning, taco seasoning, even the special sauce that macdonalds boasts about on its hamburgers, A-1 steak sauce, cocktail sauce with horseradish, tartar sauce, curries, saffron, oranges, lime squeezed over things, lemon, coriander, thyme, Even the idiot who goes around saying Ooh, I just ate KFC, yumm, and doesn’t realize that KFC’s ENTIRE claim to fame is “the colonels secret recipe of 11 herbs and spices”! It means the whole reason he is bragging about he likes KFC is because of that breading on the outside of it, made with 11 herbs and spices, which came entirely from PLANTS! It could even be the case that without plants, if KFC served him actual chicken (slopped a piece of cold raw chickenskin, with that yellowish fat hanging off of it, and that pinkish flesh stuff, what would be coming out that little KFC meat-kiddie’s mouth wouldn’t be KFC yummm, but rather a small amount of vomit.).KFC Chicken owes its flavor to being cooked and seasoned with herbs and breading and grills and spices and so when any person from here on types KFC yum, that person just admitted that meat itself is horrible, and what really tastes great is plants, vegetarian! The taste of KFC is due to plants and 11 herbs and spices, not the meat, so anyone bragging about KFC has just admitted another Vegetarian win.

NEARLY ALL OF THE MOST AMAZING TASTES IN THE WORLD COME FROM PLANTS! – VEGETARIAN!

  74. HAHAHAHAHA

You almost had me going there, good for you. But you lost me and most of the audience you were trying to fool when you said meat stays in your intestines for 7 years. You blew it! Anyone who took any sort of science class in middle school or high school knows that’s bogus. Food sits in your intestines for a few days, maybe meat stays for a week or two AT MAX but not 7 years. Here I was thinking you didn’t make all these facts up. But now we all know you’re a liar. And I;m not gonna stop eating meat because a liar told me to. Have you ever gotten food poisoning from a restaurant? Maybe the steak was bad or the chicken wasn’t fully cooked. Did you have diarrhea 7 years later? NO! You had it the next night, maybe even that night. You’re so dumb. I’m sad that I even believed the first half of your story. Screw you.

  75. Oh and to The Actual Information.

It’s really cool how you did your own research on spices and pepper and sauce blah blah blah. Give yourself a pat on the back. But its very obvious that no human being on earth will eat pepper and spices and sauce if I just mixed that all together in a bowl and poured it on a plate by itself. The steak is like the bread if I can borrow your analogy. Do you eat plain butter? No, you eat it with bread. Do you scoop salsa and cheese dip out of the bowl and eat it? No, you eat it with chips. It’s natural and part of life. Deal with it you vegetarian idiot.

I have a proposition for all you vegetarians. Since you annoy me with your idiotic PETA and your “Meat is Murder” when apparently plants and wheat are not murder (wait a minute don’t millions of animals get inhumanely killed in combines every harvest for your grains? oh yeah they do). I am going to eat twice as much meat as before to balance out for the idiots who would put false information on a page so that they could convert some meat eaters into veggies this day. Good try, too bad we’re not idiots. 7 years. HAHAHA.

  76. wth if there werent meat we wouldnt have kfc think of da fat people lol

  77. but i think its kl to say veggie burgers !!!!!!!!!!!

  78. Uh…I’m a vegetarian and I don’t think meat stays in your intestines for 7 WHOLE YEARS. An omnivore who eats the average amount of meat would literally EXPLODE if it does.

  79. Meat eaters have usually very simplistic comeback -_- yet the vegans are stuck up and act as if they are better than people.

Yes humans don’t have to eat meat, so what? You vegans should be hating the companies more than the eaters.Whether an animal had to die to make my sandwich is not my fault problem or something i really care about.
Everything in moderation dudes for both sides. There are plenty of people that eat meat and are fine, myself included whether it was hunted or not(as some stuck up hunters have been saying, acting as if they are manly than me).And vegans where do you get your meat? from the same store as the meat eaters?Do you eat salads at maccy D’s?If not where ever you get fresh veggies you can get fresh eat from there too.

Iam an omnivore and i eat both veggies and meat(thought processed, but i plan to change that when i move out)

  80. In response to the comment “vegies are gay.” I assume that by “vegies” the person who commented meant vegetarians. However, I would like to refute this statement with the fact that most homosexuals are meat eaters rather than vegetarians.

For example, many homosexual males indulge in big juicy hot dogs and spicy italian sausages while most homosexual females eat plump large breasts and meaty chicken thighs.
    >:(

  81. im a vegetairian…havnt made it to vegan yet..my familys a big southern meat eaters and nag me about it and i nag them about it,i worry for the animals and my health (mostly the animals) they tell me “god put animals on the earth for us too eat them” but i always tell them not too beat abuse and un-humanly slaughter them and inject them with anti-biotics and steriods and everything els in the book,so go ahead eat meat but go to a slaughter house and see how much meat you eat after that.im only 16 and plan too be a activist and too make movements some day.and help too make people understand why its bad too eat meat.and also its pretty sad when a meat eating doctor tells you meat is a poison too your body.

  82. My vegan girlfriend dumped me for a carnivore (sob!!)

  83. i belive you, cause im a hippo lover and indians inject them with stuff and make’m taste like chicken. its so sad how they hopped on pop

  84. i belive you, cause im a hippo lover and indians inject them with stuff and make’m taste like chicken. its so sad how they hopped on pop

  85. meat staying in your intestines for 7 years? there is no way that it can stay within your bod for that long. the bacteria within your intestine will break it down long before that. you would either break it down because of the bacteria or it would pass through as fecal material.

  86. total losers -.-

  87. I have to admit that 99% of the pro-meat arguments on here are nonsensicle, unfounded and ambiguous at best.

As a Vegan athlete of only 6 years and a reformed meat and dairy fanatic/ consumer, I have experienced at first hand (I am not alone by any means) the improvement in health, overall body and mental condition when transitioning from a meat and dairy diet, to a 100% plant protein steroyl based diet.

Let’s look at the historic facts of meat consumption:

It is agreed that we have descended from the distant primate bloodline. It is known that gorillas/chimps are in the order of 95-99% vegan, with the minority of their diet consisting of insects.

It’s extremely rare for these animals to hunt (televised documentaries to this day tell us this), but it is a known fact that chimps particularly will hunt and consume smaller simean prey, usually by way of establishing territorial dominance, again rarely.
Okay let us assume purely for arguments sake that Chimps and Gorillas are true Omnivores. This now categorises them in the same way as Bears and other such Omnivore predators.
How often do you see any of these animals actually eating cooked meat?. Never…..of course not, it would be totally unatural and unrealistic of them to do so. When did you ever see a chimp with a frying pan on it’s back?

Let’s look at some of the basic human evolution events, historic meat consumption timelines and assumptions:

The earliest record of the commonly believed ‘missing link’ Neanderthal existence dates to 600,000 years ago, the earliest known time of existence. It was known that Neanderthal roamed the Northern European mountainous regions and the common belief was that he ate meat to survive. Ok perhaps he had omnivore tendancies. Two things we do know, are that he DID NOT COOK his meat and secondly that Neanderthal faced extinction in the ensuing ice age.
It was not until 75,000 years ago that the earliest known use of fire by humankind was discovered, most recently in 2009, by a group of dedicated scientist.
It is also common knowledge that the most basic human farming of animals for consumption did not begin until 10,000 years ago.
Considering all of the above as well as human physiology it can draw us to a very clear and concise conclusion.

The conclusion being, is that from the timeline when fire was first used for the cooking and consumption of meat (I would imagine that this meat was only eaten when most vegan foods were scarce) to the modern day mass consumption of meat, circa 75,000 years. That the evolutionary model of the human form has by no means in such a short timescale (Physiological evolution takes millions of years) evolved sufficiently to properly absorb cooked meat. Even Einstein realized the error of his ways when he decided to adopt a vegetarian diet, later on in his life….obviously he would possible have been unaware of the danger posed by butter fats….but then food back then was probably of better quality in general compared to the junk laden trash served at fast food eateries across the world today.

What do we know about us?.

The human form consists of all the dominating characteristics of a Herbivore. If we were scaled to the size of a horse, our intestinal tract would stretch to 1.5 times the length. Google Herbivore Vs Human Vs Carnivore and you will see a plethora of tables outlining the stark similarities we share with the majority of Herbivores.

Human Nature: An exerpt from a Human Physcologist:-

It is human nature to want to feel that what we’re doing is right,
proper, and logical. When we’re confronted with something
that suggests that our current practices are not the
best ones, it’s uncomfortable. We can either consider that
our choices may not have been the best ones, which is
extremely disturbing, or we can reject that premise without
truly considering it, so that we don’t have to feel bad
    about our actions.

Ok, I know you meat eaters want to see some cold stats, well here are some for you to digest if you will:

My only regret as a weightlifter (and still growing) is that I never read a post like this when I was 16 years old….I abused my body unknowingly for 27 whole years, but thankfully not from the cradle to an early grave…instead I have watched good friends and family succumb to early death in their 30’s as a result of poor dietary choices. With many still alive suffering shattered bones, arthritis and auto immune disorders.

  93. Please ignore the above posts as they were added due to an internal server error…I cannot delete them

It was only 128,000 years ago that the earliest unequivocal known use of fire by humankind was scientifically discovered/proven.
It is also common knowledge that the most basic human farming of animals for consumption did not begin until only 10,000 years ago.
Considering all of the above as well as human physiology it can draw us to a very clear and concise conclusion.

The conclusion being, is that from the timeline when fire was first used for the cooking and consumption of meat (I would imagine that this meat was only eaten when most vegan foods were scarce) to the modern day mass consumption of meat, circa 100,000 years (when most humans were actually using fire). 94. I got so scared by some of the vego comments about animal meat that I have turned to killing and eating humans. The other day, I ate my neighbour, Bob, and he was delicious, thank you. I now feel much better.

So thanks for getting me off animals and getting me onto humans.

  95. if you can approve apples are better than bananas, that doesn’t mean bananas are dangerous for you.

so it’s the same if you are trying to compare between vegetarians and meat eaters. in fact, if you know how you can eat right, it doesn’t matter.

lot of people saying vegetarian can increase your age, or your power, but in fact, it’s just state of mind. look at the real world and real statistics and judge by your self.
more than 90% of the athletes are meat eaters, in average of 100 person aging over 100 years, only 4 vegetarian you will find

so shut your mouth and don’t confuse people.

  96. @the consultant – Please supply references to back up your ‘derived theory’ ….and I sense anger in your response, please, I am a compassionate moderate Vegan Bodybuilder and Athlete….

Perhaps eat less meat, thus reducing your blood acidity and lypemia….it may improve your mental orientation….

  97. PETA? PETA is one of the BIGGEST animal protection organizations you could ever find. PETA has saved many lives, and drastically improved others. The reason vegetarian/veganism is so popular, is because of the meat recalls that have taken place recently. After hearing about so many recalls, I would probably think that you would stop eating particular types of meat; or even better–become vegetarian. Everything you said about PETA, HSUS, and VRG, is INCORRECT. Just because us vegetarians, are skinnier than you meat eaters, doesn\’t mean you have to go hate on us.

    Peace.

  98. It’s true, just because something sounds outrageous, doesn’t mean it’s false.

  99. Wow! Thanx for making people think that Vegans are stupid. Meat does not stay in your intestines for 7 years!

  100. i hope you vegetarians realise that without farmers like my dad and grandfather they (for example, cattle) wouldnt live. We breed them, and keep them thriving. If we didn’t eat them they would over populate, and there is not enough room for that. We would end up having to kill them anyway.
And anyway, it’s a matter of morals for everyone. I have a few vegetarian friends and though i dont completely understand their opinions or share their views i let them be who they are, but just because they are vegetarians doesnt mean i have to be one. I like my meat and vegetarians should learn to respect that.
There is no point in fighting over this. Let everyone be who they wish to be and just bother about yourself. Let vegetarians be “unhealthy”, and let meat eaters be “immoral.”
The way each individual lives has nothing to do with another.

  101. Why do omivores always mock vegetarians we dont try to change them but they are always trying to get us to eat meat.

  102. BTW vegetarians are proven to live LONGER and HEALTHIER lives.

  103. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7276091529608936316&hl=en#

    just watch it.

  104. Hi! First off, I’d like to just say that some of the things written in this article are totally bogus. Now that that’s out of the way, why can’t we all just drop the hostility and get over ourselves? I know a few vegans/veggies and they’re really cool people. Look, you guys, I have no problem with you…none whatsoever. But when I read these posts that say that you’re going to dance on my grave and plant flowers over it, it gets to me. Face it, there are in-your-face meat eaters just like there are in-your-face vegans and veggies. Just chill out and everyone eat what you want! Meat Eaters, no one is forcing tofu or any other soy product down your throats, so take it easy. Vegans and Veggies, no on is making you watch a cow being slaughtered so that they can stuff it in your face, so leave us who eat meat alone. Let’s just stop the half-wit debate and do what we like. To each his own.

  105. God bless the internet, any idiot can google something form a biased opinion based on emotion than poof they are doctors. Eat vegtables, eat meat, just make sure that you eat. GMO food is bad no matter what form it comes. But they are plenty of vegas who have heart attacks, and develop cancer, and plenty of meat eaters that do too, it is called genetics maybe some of you can google that next? Or is every one in here to busy blowing a carrot or bathing in boning a chicken thigh

  106. Eggs and Beans (any kind) are great for Protein!

  107. Paul and The Omnivore, you see you are trying to be ignorant and doing a great job….you actually read information from source and completely ignored it…circa 600,000 of the U.S population will suffer a stroke annually says what you wrote is unfounded, written from the heart (you are already brainwashed, as I was, before I woke up).

Thank god for the internet yes indeed, considering for example, only circa 0.3% of the population of the UK are Vegan, please substantiate your theory that plenty of vegans get cancer or have a heart attack, when hospital records tell us that relatively Vegans do not have a similar incidence.

Why do you think the government won’t come out and blanket ban meat?. It’s because the health and pharmaceutical industry turns a bigger profit than the £1.2 Billion per annum the NHS and associated healthcare trusts spend on the deteriorating health of the UK public (Source Oxford University study commissioned byThe Soil Association 2010).
Also farmers need to be employed and subsidies paid (it’s called keeping the Status Quo).

So come on Boys grow some ‘Meat Balls’, put your money where your mouth is and let us see some stats and source to prove your position. Just make sure there is no link to DOA or USDA because (thanks to the internet) those government “paid for” studies are easy to spot.

  108. if I had to take sides I’m a meat lover! But really can’t everyone just stick to what they want for themselves…?

  109. I think that henrich’s coment is a LOL momet :)

  110. All of the Vegans on here say the same thing, they became vegetarians because of the stuff put in the meat, well here’s an idea, why don’t you do what I do, raise your own meat and vegetables, that way you know where your food comes from. You all talk about the crap they put in and on your food while the vegetables you buy at the store aren’t any more organic than what I grow in my own garden. I raise my own chickens and all of my vegetables, so instead of complaining about the crap the supermarket is selling you, grow it yourself ! I am a meat eater but I respect your choice to eat whatever you want, just don’t chastise me because I do eat meat. It’s bad enough I have the first lady trying to tell me what I can and can’t eat, I don’t need anyone else doing the same. I am glad Vegans are eating healthy but the studies done on meat eaters included people with unhealthy living habits as well. We all know unhealthy eating leads to obesity. That is part of the freedom we have as Americans though. You had better enjoy your freedom now because before long they will tell us we can’t eat vegetables or meat because there is no more supply, there are already food shortages in Brazil right now. Don’t assume the grocery store is always going to have what you need to eat.

  111. lol, love all these comments, thanks guys, got my “counter argument” for my TOK presentation :D :D
i’m not going to say anything about eating meat or being vegetarians, keep up with whatever you guys are :)
    no right or wrong here!

    peaceee guys~
