Pharyngitis
What you think is pharyngitis, may actually be bacterial.
This sound a lot worse than it is! It also looks a lot worse, but all it means is that you have a sore throat. The medical field has a need to make everything sound worse that it really is. A basic sore throat is cause by a nasal drip, usually allergic reaction to something. Sore throats are annoying, but usually go away after a few days, drinking a lot of fluids usually helps by moving the virus along; getting it out of your system.
Some things to relive the discomfort can be to suck on hard candies such as licorice, gargle with a saltwater solution, slippery Elm teas works very nicely with honey added. If you find you wake up with a sore throat in the morning, you may want to add a cool air humidifier to your room, to prevent dryness that occurs when the heat is high and the air is dry.
Today many people look to holistic or aromatherapy, as a way to heal non-life threaten illnesses. One very powerful antiseptic essential oil is; tea tree oil, because of its antiseptic properties this essential oil is very beneficial. You could take about three to four drops of tea tree oil, along with ¼ teaspoon sea salt and mix it with a cup of warm/very warm water and gargle several times a day. If you find your immune systems is sluggish, you may want to add more garlic to your cooking, or perhaps take a garlic supplement for a few days, to destroy any unwanted germs. Goldenseal along with Echinacea taken can help ward off, viral and bacterial infections.
If your glands swell, or you get a high fever after a few days, along with a severe headache, call your doctor immediately, it may not be the “simple case of Pharyngitis” that was originally diagnosed.
Most sore throats are viral infections that have invaded the body, and there is no “cure”, only thing you can do, is boost your immunity and relieve the symptoms. A sore throat caused by a bacterial infection such as streptococcus infection, requires antibiotics, as does most bacterial infections. Quick note, if you are given antibiotics, then you should consider taking acidophilus to help keep the friendly bacterial in proper balance throughout our bodies.
