ABDOMINAL AORTIC ANEURYSM- Fowlers
AMPUTATION- Elevate extremity for 24 hours
AIR EMBOLISM- Left sidelying and lower the head
APPENDICITIS- Position of comfort
ASTHMA- Sitting, Orthopneic position
AUTONOMIC DYSREFLEXIA- High Fowlers
BREAST SELF EXAMINATION- Upright position
BONE MARROW ASPIRATION (Iliac crest)- Prone
BONE MARROW ASPIRATION (post procedure)- Affected side with sand bag under
BRONCHIOLITIS- Tripod position
CAST- elevate the extremity
CATARACT SURGERY- Semi Fowlers
CENTRAL VENOUS CATHETERIZATION- Trendelenburg
CEREBRAL ANEURYSM- Semi Fowlers
CEREBROVASCULAR ACCIDENT- 15-30 head elevation
CERVICAL SPINAL SURGERY (post)- slight head elevation
CLEFT LIP- Supine
CLEFT PALATE- Prone
COLOSTOMY IRRIGATION- Sitting as tolerated
COPD- Upright Position
DUMPING SYNDROME- Supine after meals
ENEMA (adult)- left lateral sims with right knee flexed
EPIGLOTTITIS- Tripod position
EPISTAXIS- Leaning forward
EYE SURGERY- Unoperated side down
FEMALE CATHETERIZATION- Dorsal Recumbent
FLAIL CHEST- Affected side
GASTROENTERAL FEEDING- Low Fowlers
HIP REPLACEMENT (post procedure)- Affected limb abducted
HYPERTENSION- High Fowlers
INCREASED ICP- Semi Fowlers
LAMINECTOMY- Keep the back straight as possible
LIVER BIOPSY (during)- Supine with hands under the head
LIVER BIOPSY (post procedure)- Right sidelying with pillow under the site
LUMBAR PUNCTURE (during)- Fetal or shrimp position
LUMBAR PUNCTURE (post procedure)- Flat on bed
NGT FEEDING- High Fowlers
NGT FEEDING- if High Fowlers cannot be tolerated place client on a right side lying position with head slightly elevated
PARACENTESIS- Sitting
POST CATARACT EXTRACTION- unoperative side
PREECLAMPSIA- Left Lateral Recumbent
PREGNANCY: THIRD TRIMESTER BLEEDING- sitting, sidelying, trendelenburg
SUCTIONING (Conscious)- Semi Fowlers
SUCTIONING (Unconscious)- Sidelying
RIGHT PNEUMONECTOMY- Right sidelying
THORACENTESIS (during)- sitting with arms resting on an overbed table
THORACENTESIS (post procedure)- Unaffected side
TPN CATHETER INSERTION- Trendelenburg
VENOUS DISORDER- Elevate extremity
