Root Canal Treatment for Your Teeth
Know its importance.
Root canal is the space within the root of a tooth, which naturally occurs in the space within a tooth that consists of the pulp chamber, the main canal(s), and more intricate anatomical branches that connect the root canals to each other. It can also defined as, a capillary, which runs from the base, the root of the tooth to the middle of the crown, which is the visible part of the tooth. The root canal carries the pulp, which is a network of blood and nerve cells that gives life to the tooth.

The nerve of the tooth gets damaged due to many reasons. One of the main causes is, the cavity in the tooth grows deeper and touches the nerve. Since the cavity is filled with bacteria, it spreads to the root canal, causing inflammation, leading to pain. Few other reasons are accidental cracks or infection from gums reaching to the base of roots.
The two ways to treat for relief in case of such pains are:
1. Pulling the tooth and cleaning the gum and later replacing the tooth with a denture or bridge.
2. Root Canal Treatment.
Root Canal Treatments are defined as two types

1. Surgical root canal treatment – It is the method in which the small flap of tissue adjacent to the tooth to be treated is elevated, to get better access to the root canal. It is performed with local anesthesia. The affected tissues around the root will be removed and small filling is placed to seal the root.
2. Non Surgical root canal treatment – This is done directly through the crown of the tooth.
Methods to avoid root canal problems:
1. Take care of your teeth properly.
2. Brush twice every day to prevent the spread of bacteria formed due to the deposit of food items, to the canal. Flossing can be done to remove any sticky food items in between the tooth.
