Should We “deworm” Ourselves?
Although this may sound odd because we generally don’t think about deworming ourselves .. only our pets. Unfortunately we are not immuned to worms or parasites that can enter the body.
Should we “Deworm” Ourselves?
While watching documentaries and reading the news it’s amazing all the parasites that can enter our bodies and we are so unaware. Living in a southern state we are constantly aware of the ameba parasite that thrives in very warm water. It enters the nose and will eventually destroy brain tissue and then death. It happens very quickly but fortunately most parasites and worms are not that aggressive.
But then there are many other parasites that go undetected and can enter our bodies in many ways.. our pets will lick us, bad hygiene from children or anyone else we come in contact with, walking barefoot, swimming in untreated pools, our diets, children that suck their thumbs, and insects can also be a carrier. I was reading that there are over 1,000 species and that we are only able to detect about 45. There are lung worms, hookworms, tapeworms, roundworms, whipworms, pinworms, intestinal worms and parasites, and the list goes on and on. The more I read the more disturbing it gets. Some countries the spread is enormous while in others it is not as common but still very much a concern.
Just educate yourselves and the more you learn, the safer you and your family will be. There are many useful articles on the internet that will guide you and educate you. From prescription meds to natural “Deworming” you will be able to find it all. There is one site that has found that children with a learning problem have been diagnosed with worm infestation. UNICEF says researches have shown that regular deworming can substantially increase school attendance and significantly improve a child’s ability to learn in school. Knowledge, good hygiene and common sense are the best preventatives so use them and teach your family how important it is.

Gosh, this article is very good, but quite frightening as I had no idea we could have worms ourselves. I shall be reading the recommended articles

I knew most of this. You learn little by little over time but I must tell you, I have spent a fair amount of time pretending things like this don’t exist. Now you have me thinking again and the good question is….Should We “deworm” Ourselves? Back to the health store for me…
By the way,Karlee. This is a great article and well researched. There are so many things in this world that we don’t know or don’t want to know. Just because we don’t know about them, doesn’t mean they aren’t there.
Take care,
Darlene

Great article! You definitely gave me something to think about…I think I’ll go on the web and search for some of the natural remedies.
I wonder if my memory will improve if I ‘deworm’ myself…maybe then I can find my mind because in THIS household, I think I’ve ‘lost it’!! Ha ha.

Walking barefoot–always do it–my mother tells me I could get sick from it like you stated above.
