Teenage Pregnancy– Prevention is Better Than Repentance

Early pregnancy is a cause of serious concern, some of these methods can ensure safe sex.

With teenage pregnancy on an alarming rise, time has really come to create awareness among youngsters. It is very important that they are aware of the consequences of their rash action as it can long term repercussions on their future and their family as well. Some of the reliable methods that help you avoid unwanted pregnancy include:

Avoid sex– Of course this is the best way to avoid any kind of problems and the most obvious method to prevent unwanted pregnancy. Many youngsters ware of the consequences of their action are resorting to this option and they deserve all the admiration for this wise decision. But the age is such that, youngsters are keen to explore this new world of desire and passion and to find out what their grown up bodies can do. And, this curiosity is the main cause of accidents that have lifelong consequences.

Say no to Penetrative Sex- if you want to explore your sexuality with your partner, then one way is to make sure you do not indulge in penetrative sex. There are many other ways that you can satisfy your desires and passions such as hand stimulation and oral sex that can be just be as pleasurable. Take sufficient precautions to keep the sperms from coming in contact anywhere near your vagina. Though the risk of getting pregnant is very slim it not totally ruled out.

Contraception- The best and the most reliable is to consult your gynecologist and use contraception. There are several methods of contraception and your gynecologist may be in a position to suggest the best one for you. But do note that no birth control method is 100% foolproof.  Every method has its own disadvantages when not used properly.

Pop a pill: the pills have to be consumes every day and if you miss out on it a single day then it becomes ineffective for the rest of the month. Also if you are on antibiotics the pills may not work on your body and you have to resort to other methods of contraception such as condoms, etc.

Avoid Alcohol and Drugs- this is one very important factor that you really have to take care very consciously. In most cases pregnancy among youngsters is the result of unprotected sex when they are under the effect of alcohol or drugs. Drugs and alcohol arrest your ability to think properly and take wise decisions and also you cannot exercise control over yourself.

If you do make a mistake

You can never reverse your actions. If accidents do happen then act immediately. Get yourself the morning after pills or Plan B as it is known in USA as soon as possible. It is most effective when taken within 24 hours of unprotected sex. The later you consume the less effective it is and the chances of pregnancy are high.

So take care, it is in your hands. You are responsible for your actions. So act wisely and responsibly.

  4. Contraception now is so simple to use and so easy to obtain..yet unplanned pregnancy is still a problem. Many people think the solution lies in curtailing the sexual activity of teenagers. But the adolescent sex drive being what it is, young people are not going to stop having sex. Good advice Martinpm re: contraception :-)

  5. Yea … True
    Good Article

  6. Great informative article. I think one of the main reasons that teenagers are having sex and unprotected sex is mainly because of peer pressure. Also, as a teenager, most girls fall for anything a guy says and think that if they don’t have sex they will lose the guy. Well, if they do lose the guy, then that guy wasn’t worth it to begin with. Like you said, there are many other ways to satisfy that passion without having sex. Teenagers are not mature enough to handle the responsibilities that come after and guess who has to take care of the kids after? The parents. The problem is that there needs to be more awareness and schools should promote abstinence for teens, not assume that everybody is having sex. Now once you are in college and are in a serious committed relationship and are responsible enough to deal with the consequences, then you are an adult.
