The Sun and Sunscreen

It is a fact that the sun is the source of energy.

It is a fact that the sun is the source of energy. It is also a fact that the green chlorophyll traps the photon particles of the sun which we indirectly take in our body in the form of food when we eat green vegetables and when we eat those animals that eat green vegetables. The sun removes darkness for more or less twelve hours a day and helps us work. Thus, probably for more than one reasons, the sun has been worshipped as a god in different parts of the world.

This is a part of the story. The other part is as unfriendly as it can be. Exposure to the sun, even for a short time, may do great damage to your skin. Over-exposure to sun is horrible. The ultra-violet radiation of the sun and even the glaring reflection of the scorching sun rays from the water-bodies or anything glossy may break down collagen. This leads to the formation of wrinkles and age-spots on the skin. The sun-burned skin speeds up your aging and even one may experience cancer of the skin at an early age.

Now, sunscreen is a lotion or a gel or something that may be sprayed over the skin. Sunscreen has one or more ultra-violet filters and these absorb and reflect the ultra-violet radiation of the sun and finally protect your skin. Sunscreen may be water-resistant and one may use this before a swim.

Sunscreen has Sun Protection Factor or SPF. The SPF of a sunscreen decides how effective it is on the skin of a human body. It is actually a standard built up in the laboratory to determine how the screen will function against the exposure to the sun.

But you should not purchase any product of the sunscreen. You should study the product and seek advices from the expert dermatologist. You must know the character of your screen and the quantity of the lotion that you will apply. You must know the frequency for application and such other tit-bits from a responsible skin-specialist.
