Tips on Getting the Amount of Sleep You Need

A few ideas that may help you fall to sleep faster and get a good nights rest.

All of us have had nights where we get into bed feeling dog tired but sleep just won’t come. This can prove very frustrating. The more you lie there the worse it gets and you find your mind going to problems that you haven’t thought of in ages there are solutions for this. We can help ourselves to have a better night’s sleep. Here are a few ideas to lessen the problem of not being able to sleep.

Don’t have any coffee, tea, caffeinated drinks or alcohol within six hours of going to bed. These drinks can really mess up your night. Don’t eat a large meal just before bedtime. If you have to eat then try a light snack. Going to bed on a full stomach can make for a miserable night. Some people spend the night with nightmares.

All of us know the importance of exercising but don’t do it within six hours of bedtime. This will only stimulate your system and cause you not to fall asleep. Do your exercising during the day hours it will help you in the night time.

If you are over sensitive to noise purchase ear plugs to help eliminate any noise that may bother you. Make sure your room is dark as possible; blackout shades are excellent for this. Another thing you can do is to make sure the temperature of your room is comfortable and don’t go to bed until you’re tired enough to go , if you do you will lie there awake which will only make the problem worse. If you find yourself laying there wide awake get up and do something that will help you relax such as reading. It is important for you not to do something that will keep you from sleeping when you return to your bed.

Sometimes we get sleepy during the day but you shouldn’t lie down. This can be a sure way of having a problem getting to sleep at night. If you have to lie down during the day make sure it’s just for a cat nap. Take this nap as early as possible in the day.
Watching a clock in the nighttime can only add to your frustration of not being able to sleep. Turn your clock away from you. This way you are not counting the minutes or the hours in some cases. Thinking of something pleasant instead of worrying about what you have waiting for the next day, sometimes works miracles. Above all listen to your body when it tells you its tired then it time to snuggle down. If you have a constant problem trying to get to sleep it is best to seek the advice of your doctor.
