Top Ten Medical Myths
There are few myths in this world, which are believed by many people without any questions. Few are believed even by doctors. Here are the top ten.
1. Humans use only 10% of their brains
Somewhere in a book I read once, that Newton is the only person in this world, who utilized above 25% of his brain. Some sources claimed that Albert Einstein is the scientist who found out this 10% concept. But there is no record found so far. The latest studies on brain like damage to brain, brain imaging, microstructure analysis, localization of functions, etc… proved that people use more than 10% of their brains.

2. Late night intakes make you fat
It is a very common belief, even believed by doctors. But the fact is, it is the calorie, which decides your fat formation. If you burn the calories, whatever is consumed then you are no way going to look fatty. If you are not burning calories properly, whatever the right time and whatever the right food you take, you will turn obsessive one day.

3. Nail and hair grow even after death
This is a little scary myth, right? I guess that is why in movies they show ghosts having long nails and hair. But the fact is, after death, the skin around the nails or hair gets dried which leads to retraction. Hence the nail or hair looks increased in length than before. It is purely an optical illusion, caused due to the shrunken soft tissues. Without a proper hormonal act, hair and nails cannot grow. After death, no hormonal acts take place in a human body.

4. Weight gaining is easier than shedding weight
When I said this as a myth, most of you might have got happy. Yes, this is a myth and the fact is, if you are exposed to significant changes in temperature, it speeds up metabolism and helps in weight lose. Also, scientific calculations say that if you eat 3500 calories extra, than what you burn, then you gain 0.14kg, where as if you burn 3500 calories more than what you eat, then you will lose 0.45kg, which is nearly 3 times more than other. So, shedding weight is quicker than gaining.
